Paxton Access introduces Vandal Resistant Compact Metal Keypad
posted on 01/06/2009

Paxton Access has introduced the Vandal resistant compact metal keypad. The new Vandal resistant compact metal keypad has been developed in response to feedback from Paxton Access installers. The unit is an all in one keypad system that is perfect for use on outdoor gates and barriers. The keypad has a compact design; all the control electronics are built into the housing, so installers do not have to wire to a separate control unit. The Vandal resistant metal keypad controls an access point via a powered lock output and volt free relay contacts. This allows the control of gates and barriers with no need for additional relays. The keypad also has a new voltage range of 12-24 V AC/DC, meaning that no extra power supply is needed when fitting to gates and barriers The tough keypad really stands up to abuse in areas where knocks and scrapes are inevitable. It is IPX7 rated and therefore ideal for use in all weather conditions. On top of all this, the keypad panel is back-lit for s... [more]

Micropak improves security in public car parks
posted on 29/05/2009

The new Micropak combines zoom camera, IR lighting and barrier control into a compact weatherproof box. Most solutions use just number plate recognition but Micropak can also match vehicles profile on entry and exit in order to detect possible vehicle theft. This solution can easily be integrated into car-park equipment (ticket machine, barriers) and into access control management software greatly enhancing car security. By providing an entirely automated subscription system, these solutions represent a considerable reduction in running costs and an improvement in security levels of public car parks. Micropak can also provide a counting system (overall or by level) of remaining spaces that is more reliable than any other system. This access control solution can easily be interfaced with other Access Control Management systems. Micropak ANPR camera can be installed in a few minutes, thus minimising the restrictions for the car-park managers. Once installed, all of the camera settings ... [more]

posted on 27/05/2009

Losses caused by fire, such as deaths, permanent injuries, property and environment damages have increased rapidly, despite advances in traditional fire alarm technology. According to the statistic provided by the National Fire Protection Association, there were 1,557,500 fire reported in the U.S. alone in 2007; causing 3,430 civilian deaths, 17,000 civilian injures and property damage worth 14.6 billion. Most damage is the result of an inability to response before the fire gets out of control. GKB has announced the introduction of an new solution called Video Fire Detection System VFDSTM. The GKB VFDSTM preempts fire-related disasters through the detection of fire and smoke using standard analog video signals over existing surveillance systems. Once the VFDSTM system detects fire or smoke, the server auto-initiates actions which include automated alarms, SMS alerts, and video recording. A VFDSTM can support up to 8 video cameras. In a larger application, a VFDS console server will be c... [more]

Maritime security has been tightened at the seaside town of Watchet following the launch of a new Boat Watch scheme using SelectaDNA forensic marking. The Boat Watch initiative, which has helped to reduce theft and criminal damage in many boating communities around the UK, was set up in Watchet in response to a spate of thefts from the marina. One recent incident involved the local Sea Scouts’ base, which was broken into and £1,200 of gear, including two kayaks, was stolen. The new scheme involves the Watchet Boat Owners Association, Watchet Harbour Marina, Avon & Somerset Police and West Somerset Council. It has received funding from the Safer Somerset West Partnership. On the day of the launch at East Quay, boat owners had their boats and expensive marine equipment security-marked us... [more]
