Analysis predicts growth of biometric security products and services on mobile devices
posted on 23/02/2012
Goode Intelligence has revealed in its new analyst report Mobile Phone Biometric Security Analysis and Forecasts 2011-2015 that mobile phone biometric security products and services generated just over $30 million in 2011 and that the market will grow to over $161 million in revenue by 2015. According to Goode Intelligence, the prediction of growth in excess of $130 million over the next four years is due to three key factors: 1. Smart Mobile Devices (SMDs) are now the personal device of choice; with sales outpacing PCs. The ‘bring your own device’ (BYOD) trend is accelerating the need for enhanced security as SMDs are being used more often for consumer and business-sensitive activities including: a. storing sensitive data and b. connecting to network-services that allows access to private and business-critical information[i]. 2. SMDs are set to become the prime portal for our private and business lives but we are still relying on last-century technology... [more]

New PINpad Image added to Swivel Authentication Platform Deployment Options
posted on 21/02/2012
Swivel Secure the global leader in tokenless authentication technology has announced the availability of a new PINpad interface to add to its already extensive range of deployment options. PINpad is designed for low-risk business applications to add an extra security step to the standard username and password authentication process, when a full two-factor solution is not a critical requirement. Based on a familiar numerical keypad format, PINpad appears as an image embedded into the application login page with the digits 0 to 9 randomly distributed on different keys each time it is used. After the user has entered their password, they are prompted to enter a one-time-code (OTC) to complete the authentication. The OTC is automatically entered into the form as the user mouse-clicks the digits of their PIN on the virtual keypad. If this is correctly submitted back to the authentication server the user is granted access to the restricted area of the network. The new interface is extre... [more]
