With the heritage of fantastic Opens and excellent reputation for safety and security to uphold, Panasonic System Networks and Arthur McKay Building Services were identified to assist with security solutions. Panasonic System Networks were asked to provide a specialist security solution for use during the event and Arthur McKay Building Services were appointed as the system installer. Arthur McKay’s IP CCTV Consultant, Mark Doyle, said “After the initial inspection of the site, selection of the equipment and locations had been planned we had a small time window within which to install, setup and test the equipment. It was far simpler to install Panasonic’s IP based cameras than any we have previously installed because of less cable runs through PoE (power over ethernet) and greater compatibility of Panaso... 3ami MAS monitors data input on Lancashire Constabulary's network of terminals
posted on 08/02/2010
Coming into effect March 2010, the ACPO Information Systems Community Security Policy lists “protective monitoring” as a control UK police forces must score against to comply with the policy matrix. Lancashire Constabulary is using 3ami Monitoring and Audit System (MAS) to comply with new data security regulations from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). With a few minor exceptions, such as passwords and confidential reporting, 3ami MAS will monitor all data input on Lancashire Constabulary’s network of terminals, including mobile and portable terminals. “We expect that the implementation of 3ami MAS will ultimately result in a cost-saving, not just in the typical productivity sense, but also in the preventive message it sends out to the users of force computer systems,” said Detective Superintendent Martyn Leveridge. “It will provide us with the ability to resolve allegations of systems misuse more quickly and with more certainty, and allow the public additional confid... A study by the University of Leicester Department of Criminology highlights concerns over police resources, as well as attitude among some officers, in tackling a rising tide of internet crime. In a new report entitled 'Public policing and Internet crime', Professor Yvonne Jewkes from the University of Leicester questions whether cybercrime as a criminal activity is taken as seriously as it should be. She assesses the police's ability and willingness to investigate cybercrime, and highlights problems of cooperation and law enforcement across geographical boundaries and legal jurisdictions. Crimes perpetrated via an Internet auction site are explored ... [more]
