Tufin Technologies' channel partner program grows rapidly to over fifty security-focused channel partners
posted on 25/12/2007
Tufin Technologies has announced its channel partner program has grown to over fifty leading, security-focused channel partners in its first six months. The rapid adoption of Tufin’s SecureTrack solution by the channel reflects both increased demand from global organisations in need of a comprehensive firewall operations management solution and the channel’s ability to leverage SecureTrack to quickly open up new revenue streams and increase profitability. Large enterprises, from banks and financial institutions to pharmaceutical, energy and telecommunications companies, already view firewall change management, rule base optimisation and security auditing as an integral and critical part of their security infrastructure. As such, Tufin’s SecureTrack is a natural addition to a security reseller’s portfolio, offering resellers an immediate way to revisit existing accounts as well as penetrate new ones. “Demand from our large enterprise clients for a comprehensive and sophisticated firewa... Five security truths to protect your critical systems
posted on 21/12/2007
Anyone who tells you that your IT network is “100% secure” is either a fool, or greatly mistaken. Security is a moving target, and unfortunately, this target is being manipulated by the bad guys. With 2007 almost behind us, I reflect on the struggle enterprises and governments face in cyber security. This is not a holiday wish list, or resolutions for 2008, but read through these 5 notions and I can guarantee: you will wonder if you are doing all you can to protect your critical systems. 1. Forget the rearview mirror: The bad guys are ahead of you 2. Leave the lights on – always 3. Don’t forget the boiling oil! 4. Your mom was right: change your underwear, often 5. Don’t let vendors put you in their box Forget the rearview mirror: The bad guys are ahead of you You may not know the intent of those attacking your systems; however what you should know is that they probably know more than you. The security industry does not innovate; we simply chase behind the true innovato... [more]
DNA protection for homes in historic village
posted on 20/12/2007
Homes in the historic village of Shareshill, near Cannock in South Staffordshire, have been subjected to a spate of thefts over the past year where valuable items have been stolen. The 14th century church has also suffered from thefts. However, residents of Shareshill are teaming up with local police to fight back against theft by using the latest in DNA forensic technology to protect their homes and possessions. Around 100 properties have been permanently marked with SelectaDNA, which irrefutably links criminals to burglaries and break-ins. The forensic markings are impossible to remove and identification can be made from tiny specks the size of a pin head. Thieves should be aware that similar police marking schemes in other residential areas across the UK have reduced break-ins by up to 80%. Whilst crime levels in Shareshill are considered by police to be "moderate" at present, the fact that the village has quick and easy ‘getaway’ access to major roads is thought to have be... [more]
Biometrics industry needs to educate the public to stop to ill-informed speculation on biometric technology
posted on 18/12/2007
The recent press coverage of biometric technology in the wake of HMRC losing 25 million records has been negative to say the least. A US academic paper proving that it is possible to partially recreate a fingerprint from unencrypted data has been quoted and more recently six leading academics have written to a Parliamentary committee to express their dismay at the way biometrics has been proposed as a means to secure data. The national biometric ID programme is back in the spotlight with few supporters. And in the weeks preceding the HMRC data loss, a small group of concerned parents in London suggested “perverts will use (biometric) technology to track your kids”, a Shadow Minister branded the biometric industry “worse than ID thieves”, and anti-biometrics websites run by unqualified campaigners are quoted verbatim in the national press with no attempt to seek comment from industry experts. How is the UK biometrics industry to respond to ill-informed comment and wild speculation? The... [more]
