Companies fail to take precautions to secure the weakest link in their information infrastructure - paper
posted on 29/05/2009

Recent well documented stories in the media have shown how easy it is to cause breaches in security by careless handling of paper documents. IT managers need to understand that not all attacks are malicious, and employees can inadvertently be involved in accidental data loss. While millions of pounds have been spent by corporations on security networks to ensure that data entering and leaving cannot be accessed by anyone without permission, many companies still fail to take any precautions to secure perhaps the weakest link in their information infrastructure – paper. With Chief Security Officers under increasing commercial and regulatory pressure to implement watertight data security systems to protect their businesses, Helen Berentzen, office solutions marketing manager at Ricoh, says that the focus should not only be on digital information. The potentially most embarrassing data, or compliance, breach could be paper-based. Investing in firewalls and anti-virus software h... [more]

posted on 29/05/2009

Pickersgill-Kaye Ltd has developed a range of specialist locks for military and civilian armoured vehicles. The special purpose locks which took twelve months to design and build are aimed at occupants of armoured personnel carriers. Ideal for defending vehicle occupants from insurgents who may be hostile to the presence of foreign troops or police, the robust designed locks have been built to withstand on-going sporadic violent attacks. A key feature of the locks is their ability to endure extremely high and low temperature fluctuations, making them suitable for use in very cold and hot climates, as might be required by any peace keeping force or army. Opening and closing of the locks is achieved through the use of a high security type key & cylinder. Now with the advent of its low volume, heavy duty lock Pickersgill-Kaye ... [more]
