Aceso enables users to recover evidence from mobile phone handsets, SIM cards and media cards
posted on 27/05/2010

Radio Tactics Ltd has announced the launch of Aceso v5. The Aceso v5 is an upgrade to the existing Radio Tactics Aceso device, which enables users from government and law enforcement agencies as well as the corporate sector to recover evidence from mobile phone handsets, SIM cards and media cards. This evidence can be used directly in a prosecution or as intelligence to assist an ongoing enquiry. The Aceso enables fast extraction of data from a mobile phone by a user with minimal training, allowing forensic experts to focus their time on more specialist areas. • Aceso v5 introduces a new database of handsets, making the Aceso a knowledge base for the forensic examination of mobile phones as well as an evidence recovery device • Aceso v5 gives users complete control over the type of data they can extract from an acquisition whatever their level of technical expertise • The v5 upgrade reduces the time taken to retrieve evidence from mobile handsets • For the first time, the softwa... IT departments require more than encryption to securely track manage and protect mobile data
posted on 25/05/2010

The increasingly mobile nature of data has resulted in growing pressures on IT departments. There was a time, not too long ago, when data was secured primarily due to the physical security of the building where it was located. Now, with the ubiquitous use of laptops and handheld devices, a secure physical environment, while requisite, is no longer sufficient. As we enter a new decade, IT departments are faced with a proverbial “perfect storm” when it comes to securing data. Departments are dealing with reduced operating budgets resulting in them having to do more with less. There is a growing movement from various levels of government to regulate the security of data, such as the recent announcement by the UK Ministry of Justice that the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) would have the power to organisations up to £500,000 for serious breaches of data protection principles. The European Council has approved a data breach notification rule for Europe's telecommunications fi... [more]

Businesses are complacent with the security risks they face
posted on 24/05/2010

Cyber criminals have evolved their skills and techniques to such an extent that they can breach the four walls of any company at will. Today’s cyber attacks are well organised, sophisticated, and targeted, not random, aimed at specific businesses or organisations seeking to steal valuable information for resale or fraudulent use. The 2008 RBS WorldPay incident is a good example of such an attack. First, ATM account credential information was stolen from a hacked computer system, and then used to make counterfeit ATM cards. Then over a few hour period US$9 million was taken from 2100 ATMs in 280 cities across three continents, leveraging a well-organised group of cashers spread across the world. According to one report the revenue generated by cyber criminals approaches US$1 trillion annually. This new breed of criminal congregates anonymously in underground chat rooms where they can find similarly minded criminals who have particular specialties useful for a particular heist. T... [more]

Sunwin replaces manned call centre with automated IVR solution to distribute ATM lock codes to crews
posted on 24/05/2010

Sunwin Cash Processing Services provides a cash and valuables in transit service across the UK, including cash replenishment for a network of cash machines (ATMs). Sunwin’s ATM servicing business has expanded sharply over the last few years from 700 ATMs to now reach around 3000 ATMs today. This has resulted in a five-fold increase in calls to support over 2000 visits per day by security guards delivering fresh cash supplies. iB Management Solutions, a security technology specialist, has worked with Kaba Mas, a leading lock manufacturer to develop a third party solution called CIAS (Cencon IVR Automation System). CIAS provides an automated telephone interactive voice response (IVR) service to security companies who need to distribute Kaba Mas Cencon 2000 ATM lock codes to their crews in order to replenish and service ATMs. By automating the process, security companies can save costs and increase efficiency by eliminating the need for call centre agents to distribute codes via the te...
