4i Security's software security system communicates and reports via broadband
posted on 27/10/2010
Developers at 4i Security have created a software security system that communicates and reports using broadband technology. They offer online access to all customers, enabling clients to log on to any computer and manage their security systems across multiple sites through an Online Management Console (OMC). 4i Security’s system is cutting the number of false alarms by 98%. This in turn is dramatically slashing the number of call-outs, preserving Police and Fire responses and freeing companies of the expense of a costly infrastructure of managers, technicians and repairers. Clients now benefiting from using the 4i Security system, include a number of Northwest & Yorkshire based schools, golf clubs, national bed retailer Sleepmasters, Leeds City Council and Liverpool’s Radio City part of the Bauer Media Group. Mark Slater, 4i Security managing director, said the technology had taken more than three years to develop and perfect. He said: “We are not just getting this right – we ar... [more]

The intruder spray that uses forensic DNA to link offenders directly to the crime scene is being introduced to small retailers as a highly effective robbery deterrent. The Lancashire Partnership Against Crime (LANPAC), a charitable organisation which supports crime prevention and community safety schemes, is behind the initiative and has the full support of Lancashire Constabulary. A spokesman from LANPAC said: “After securing £50,000 funding from the Home Office for various community safety projects, we decided to purchase 14 DNA spray systems along with other security products to deter burglary from up to 100 small retail outlets in vulnerable areas of Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, B... The desire to conserve energy has causes us to examine our practices that were formed at a time when energy was cheap and abundant. The harm in wasting energy has both an economic as well as an environmental impact. A major use of electrical energy is for lighting system. The most common use of lighting is to provide for the safe movement of people and vehicles at night. A lesser need, but still a significant percentage of the power usage is for security systems. Until now the safeguarding of industrial and material products has required illumination for the surveillance equipment. That will be changing. Security 1A defines light as the enemy of darkness and the ally of a safe environment. Bad things do not happen when there is light, evil happens under the cloak of darkness. If you want safety you must have light. This hypothesis has been accepted and used without question for as long as man has been lighting lanterns to safeguard his village from the approaching night.
