SMEs routinely breach the Data Protection Act

According to a survey of over 500 small and medium businesses conducted by BSI, almost one in five businesses has unwittingly breached the Data Protection Act (DPA) at least once. Of these, nearly half said they had breached the Act on several occasions and an additional 18% said they were not sure whether they had or not. A ‘breach’ could refer to the illegal transfer of information to a third party, failure to hold information securely or neglect of other legal obligations. The survey provides a snapshot of how UK businesses manage the personal information they hold on staff and customers, including sensitive data such as racial or ethnic origin, trade union membership and criminal proceedings. ioimage prevents theft and vandalism at Volvo, Honda and Jaguar sales and service center in Israel

ioimage's products have been installed to prevent theft and vandalism at the Israeli sales and service center for Volvo, Honda and Jaguar in Rishon Lezion. The 15,000 sqm site on the outskirts of Tel Aviv houses the main sales office, spare parts warehouse and garage. The new surveillance system is set up to detect intruders 24/7 and to sound an alarm after hours and on weekends. It comprises ioimage intelligent cameras and encoders located in critical indoor and outdoor areas such as the showroom, communications center and main gate. Andrews International acquires the U.S. and Mexico guarding operations of Garda World Security Corporation

Andrews International has entered into an agreement to acquire the U.S. and Mexico guarding operations of Garda World Security Corporation, including the uniformed security, strike security/asset protection and U.S. consulting and investigations operations. This acquisition makes Andrews International the largest privately-held, American-owned security service provider of uniformed security, consulting and investigations and personal protection services in the United States. Trolley Scan develops passive UHF transponder with 25 meters operating range

Trolley Scan (Pty) Ltd has announced the development of a new passive transponder that has approximately 100% improvement in range over previous versions. Previously, the maximum range with passive transponders with Trolley Scan readers was 13 metres. Announcing the development, Mike Marsh, Managing Director of Trolley Scan (Pty) Ltd said - "Trolley Scan have developed an amazing passive UHF transponder with a measured operating range of more than 25 meters. Bearing in mind that passive transponders do not have onboard energy, but have to collect energy radiated from the reader, a transponder that is passive and can work at 25 meters has to operate on minute amounts of radio power.
