Wiegand Transmission Distances extended by ComNet

Manufacturer of fiber optic transmission and networking equipment, ComNet Europe Ltd of Leeds in the United Kingdom, is introducing a fiber optic distance extending interface that allows optical connectivity between one card reader and its associated door or gate locking hardware, and any Wiegand, Magstripe, or F/2F-based control panel. The ComNet FDW1000 transmits Wiegand data optically over multimode or single-mode fiber at distances up to 3.5km or 40km respectively. ComNet is also introducing a unique expansion module that allows up to 7 additional card readers be integrated on to the fiber optic network. These new ComNet models are designed to prevent tampering and provide safe and secure operation. Oakpark Alarms provides secure access systems for a care home

Oakpark Alarms, a local security and fire alarm company, installed a swipe card security access system in a newly built 60 bed care home at Sturminster Newton for Colten Care. Having supplied and serviced alarm systems for Colten Care over several years, Oakpark was asked to provide secure access systems for its new care home in Sturminster Newton. The swipe card system has been designed so that only those authorised are able to enter specific areas within the premises. Equally, residents with different needs can feel safe in familiar surroundings. Matron, Sarah Harper is pleased. 'The door control has been absolutely brilliant. The staff have found it easy to use. We are able to issue access cards to visitors immediately they arrive, which are time and area limited, so we are able to maintain a high level of safety for our residents'.
