InSight Duo delivers iris and face capture within seconds from a distance of 2 meters
posted on 10/10/2011

AOptix Technologies, Inc.'s InSight® Duo is the world’s first biometric system with simultaneous ISO standards-compliant iris and face capture. The InSight Duo is particularly well suited to enrollment and authentication applications including registered or trusted traveler programs and expedited processing at immigration or airport security checkpoints, where speed and accuracy are critical. Because the InSight Duo is fully automated, it is simple and intuitive even for non-technical or non-acclimated users, and can help streamline otherwise complicated processing. Positioned to meet the high throughput requirements of border and aviation security while providing a superior user experience, the InSight Duo delivers effortless iris and face capture within seconds from a distance of 2 meters. By adding a face recognition quality image capture to the InSight iris recognition system, the Duo offers dramatic performance and versatility in a single, integrated unit. Rapid collection of... HRS presents at Biometrics 2011 its iris recognition system that has been installed at Gatwick Airport
posted on 05/10/2011

Human Recognition Systems (HRS) will provide an exclusive talk at the Biometrics 2011 event at Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster, London on Wednesday 19 October at 9am. The presentation will provide an industry overview of the previously unheard case study of Gatwick’s trial and deployment of two advanced biometric products: Human Recognition System’s MFlow Track (in conjunction with AOptix Technologies) and MFlow Journey (in conjunction with Cognitec). Jim Slevin, HRS’ aviation business unit manager will co-present with Perry Hailey, Gatwick Airport’s head of technology in a 30-minute session entitled ‘Biometrics in mass transit - a case study of Gatwick Airport developments in 2011’. "Biometrics 2011 is gearing up to be a fantastic show, with many cutting edge presentations,” said Mark Lockie, Biometrics 2011’s conference director. “In particular, I am personally looking forward to the speech delivered by Gatwick Airport's Perry Hailey and HRS’ Jim Slevin ... MFlow biometric systems increase airport security while improving passenger experience
posted on 27/09/2011

Earlier this month, at Transport Security Expo (TRANSEC) in London, Human Recognition Systems (HRS) exhibited their aviation products. Jim Slevin, aviation business unit manager for HRS, spoke on the first day's workshop programme about 'Identity Solutions Enhancing Security and Improving Operational Performance'. He demonstrated how the suite of MFlow products provide substantial returns on investment to aviation clients wanting to increase airport security while optimising operational infrastructure and improving passenger experience. “This presentation introduced the audience to the security and business possibilities of biometric deployments in aviation settings. How, for example, MFlow Exit Lanes can prevent anti back-tracking, (as at Manchester and Newcastle airports), and MFlow Track can speed up the security process while increasing levels of accuracy thanks to multi-modal biometrics, which combine face and iris,” explains Jim. One of the HRS case studies covered the requireme... [more]

The vulnerability of sensitive Biometric data storage systems
posted on 20/09/2011

The latest cyberattacks prove “One Time Password” (SecurID) has failed to protect faked “legitimate” access. Significant federal sites with RSA protection were recently breached. Biometric storage methods define conditions for individual identification by storing indefeasible characteristics in national, government and private databases. It also means specifying the characteristics that distinguish or identify the actual identity of a person, rather than using it for authentication only. Storing biometric data gives hackers the obvious potential to hack, copy, clone or manipulate sensitive/irreplaceable information in minutes. Financial institutions, Fortune 500 companies, governments, intelligence agencies and military worldwide have spent billions of dollars to prevent illegal access to protect critical intellectual property, plans and finances on mainframes, data centers and computers. This paper outlines the vulnerability of current sensitive Biometric data storage systems and pr... [more]

Multi-biometric identification helps ensure a fair and efficient election process in Kenya
posted on 19/09/2011

Civil unrest in the aftermath of Kenya’s 2007 elections prompted the government of Kenya to completely overhaul its system of managing elections. The IIEC was formed to replace the previous Electoral Commission of Kenya and charged with the mission to institutionalize sustainable electoral processes that would guarantee fair elections. The mandate of the IIEC covered all aspects of implementing elections including reform of the electoral process; conducting a fresh registration of all Kenyan voters to create a completely new voter register; developing a modern system for collection, collation, transmission and tallying of electoral data and promoting voter education. To undertake such a large and important mandate, the IIEC required a voter registration system that would ensure highly accurate identification of Kenya’s 13 million voters and a reliable process for flagging any duplicate registrations in the system. They turned to system integrator CODE Inc. who developed and implemented a... [more]
