O2 concert-goers counted by video analytics software from Ipsotek
posted on 19/11/2007
The O2 in London is a multi-attraction venue that features a 20,000 capacity arena. The destination also includes IndigO2, a smaller live music venue, an 11-screen Vue cinema and over 25 bars and restaurants. The overall capacity of The O2 is in excess of 50,000. When tickets for the Spice Girls’ December concert at The O2 arena in London went on sale, all 20,000 were snapped up in 38 seconds. Each and every one of the concert-goers will be counted in and out of The O2 by video analytics software from Ipsotek. The O2, owned and operated by AEG Europe, has installed Ipsotek’s people-counting system across dedicated cameras at its main entrances so that AEG’s management and tenants benefit from hour-by-hour, day-by-day analysis. Ipsotek’s software was chosen for its ability to provide an accurate, automated headcount covering both steady streams of visitors and sudden influxes during high-profile events. Tim Rawlins, Operations Director at The O2, said: “We were impressed that Ipsote... [more]
Portable x-ray bomb and threat detection protects transport infrastructure against terrorist attacks
posted on 19/11/2007
3D x-ray technology provides a major security advance in detecting bombs, knives, guns and other suspect devices that are left in bags at airports, left on railway platforms, or in stadia. 3DX-RAY offers real-time, portable x-ray, bomb and threat detection, using the same technology that it employs in its 3D baggage inspection system. It introduced and pioneered both of these tools in the fight against terrorism in close collaboration with the UK Home Office and customers such as the British Transport Police to provide an ever higher level of protection for the public. Already the USA’s Transport Security Administration, which is charged with security across all areas of America’s transport infrastructure, has undertaken a long-term and independent trial of their 3D baggage inspection technology which demonstrated significant improvements in security screening performance when compared to all other systems. As well as the introduction of 3D x-ray images, there have been several te... [more]

Trusted Borders, a consortium of companies led by Raytheon Systems Limited of the UK, has signed a contract with the Home Office to develop and implement the nation’s ‘e-Borders’ project, an advanced border control and security programme. The e-Borders Programme is a multi-agency, technology-enabled business change programme which will create a joined-up, modernised border control and security framework for the United Kingdom. e-Borders will collect and analyse passenger and crew data, provided by carriers (air, sea and rail), in respect of all journeys to and from the UK in advance of their travel. This will support an intelligence-led approach to operating border controls, by identifying those involved in abuse of UK immigration laws, serious and organised crime and terrorism. Border control agencies include Immigration service, Police service, Serious and Organised Crime Agency, Customs and UKvisas. Biohazard spill kits reduce response times to bio-spillages
posted on 13/11/2007
GreenValet has announced a range of biohazard spill kits designed to meet the needs of the security industry, police, prison and court services in the UK. Biohazard spill kits are used for emergency cleaning of spillages such as vomit, blood and urine. They have been proven to significantly reduce response times to bio-spillages, to prevent infections and to reduce risk to staff and the public. Sealed spill kits ensure that specialised equipment and materials required for effective cleaning of bio-spillages are kept together. Biohazard spill kits are used at locations and times when professional cleaning staff and equipment are not available. They ensure working environments including vehicles are rapidly cleaned and disinfected and enable staff to continue working safely with minimum disruption. Kits include disposable personal protective equipment (PPE), tools, specialised absorption and infection control agents and sealable waste bags to enable rapid, safe clean up, storage and dispos...
