Barratt Homes sales staff feel safer with Peoplesafe
posted on 24/09/2008

Peoplesafe is providing Barratt Homes staff with peace of mind, knowing that they are being monitored in potentially hazardous situations and can discreetly summon help if threatened. When a recently released prisoner visited one of Barratt Homes sales offices and a consultant had to talk her way out of a potentially volatile situation, Barratt Homes made the decision to upgrade its lone worker support from a personal squealer alarm to the technically advanced Peoplesafe lone worker device. Prior to purchasing the Peoplesafe service, negotiators working for Barratt Homes Southern Counties had taken advice from the Susie Lamplugh Trust on managing violence and aggression in the workplace. Following the incident with its negotiator the company decided to review its lone worker policy knowing that on certain housing developments, staff work alone in the sales office and whilst showing potential buyers around the site. “If our negotiator had been equipped with a Peoplesafe device sh... The multi-million pound makeover of the five tower blocks that make up the Chalcots Estate in Swiss Cottage, North London necessitates regular contact between the main contractor Rydon Construction and the occupiers of the 711 flats on the estate. The £66 million makeover to transform the 22-storey blocks of flats includes the replacement and refurbishment of kitchens, bathrooms, electrics and communal areas. Members of Rydon Construction’s Resident Liaison Team visit residents in their homes to negotiate access for renovation work to be carried out. Rydon Construction has ensured that members of its Resident Liaison Team, who act as the interface between the residents and the contractor, are safeguarded with SoloProtect, a protection service for personnel working alone. “We were conscious that once a member of the team entered a resident’s flat they were working alone and could potentially face physical or verbal abuse”, said Nikki Donnelly, Resident Liaison Manager at Rydon Co... Hong Kong traffic surveillance system migrates to IP Video with IndigoVision
posted on 08/09/2008

Like many large analog systems, Hong Kong’s CCTV surveillance consists of a number of isolated video control rooms which are not interconnected to form a single centrally monitored system – often referred to as ‘islands’ of video. IndigoVision’s IP-CCTV technology has been used to extend the capabilities of Hong Kong’s extensive traffic surveillance system. The current analog system has been expanded with the addition of 48 cameras using IndigoVision’s IP Video system, creating a fully integrated 250 camera hybrid solution. The introduction of IndigoVision’s IP-based distributed network provides a platform for full migration to IP Video in the future. The migration project was designed and installed by IndigoVision’s local partner Tung Po (HK) Technology Enterprise Ltd. Tung Po also developed bespoke software to create an integrated ‘front end’ for both the existing analog system and IndigoVision’s IP Video. This was interfaced with ‘Control Center’, IndigoVision’s IP Video and alarm... [more]
