Jacksons Fine Fencing protects The Maid of the Loch
posted on 19/07/2007

Jacksons Fine Fencing has installed fencing in one of Scotland's most famous National heritage sites at Loch Lomond National Park, home to one of the most famous paddle steamers in Scotland, 'The Maid of the Loch'. The design and specification of the fencing to the slipway was important as the end product had to be functional as a deterrent design but also sensitive to the environment. The location originally had triple point palisade fencing, but it was felt that something more sympathetic and in keeping with a heritage site was required that was secure, to prevent any breach into the 'Maid of the Loch' and avert any potential vandalism. After consultation with Jacksons, the client chose the Barbican Imperial range with a polyester powder coated green finish that softened the line of the fencing and blended in with the magnificent scenery around Loch Lomond. A double leaf gate with a raked base was added to the 1.8 metre high fencing to allow access to the site. The very nat... [more]

Delta Launches Mobile Anti-Crash Barricade for Events
posted on 18/06/2007

Delta Scientific has announced a new category of commercial, crash-tested vehicle barriers. The new DSC 1000 is a self-contained unit that is stored and towed on its own trailer. Light enough to be towed by a golf cart and set up in only 10 minutes, the new DSC 1000 portable barrier has already passed an ASTM crash test in which it stopped a 5,000-pound (2300 kg) vehicle going 50 mph (80 kph), providing it with an ASTM rating of P50. (Note to editors: the new to-be-announced ASTM rating system will soon replace the present crash rating system.) With no foundation or electrical hook-up needed, two people can set up and take down the new DSC 1000 barrier in minutes. The barricade’s self-contained power system provides all the power necessary to raise and lower the unit onto its trailer and open and close the barrier. This battery-powered system re-charges with a solar panel or external means. Controls can be locked or operated at the barricade or remotely. Contrary to... [more]

posted on 14/06/2007

New analysis from Frost & Sullivan "European Airport Security Equipment Market: Investment Opportunities" reveals that the European airport security market earned revenues (top 47 participants) of $2.37 billion in 2005 and estimates this to reach $10.35 billion in 2010. The European airport security market looks set for robust growth, particularly in the wake of continued terrorist threats, new European Union (EU) airport security regulations, rising passenger traffic and the increasing need to upgrade installed security equipment, as well as integrate this with newly implemented technology. Opportunities are particularly lucrative in the biometrics and explosive detection sub-segments, where small start-up companies offering innovative technologies can expect favourable financial backing from venture capitalist firms. “While there are over 491 airports in Europe as of March 2006, another five to six airports are currently under construction with a plan for twenty other airpor...
