Digital Ally video systems withstand everything the job dishes out
posted on 30/11/2009
Some of the most important evidence is recorded in situations where the mobile video devices take the worst battering. Law enforcement officers face incredible dangers in the line of duty, and their equipment has to take a lot of abuse. From heavy usage and harsh environmental conditions to serious vehicular accidents, it simply has to keep working because so much is at stake. In pursuit of a fleeing motorcycle, an officer is unable to make a curve in the road and his squad car impacts against a large tree. The front half of the vehicle is almost completely destroyed, however, the officer thankfully survives with only bumps and bruises due to body armor, seat belts and the air bag. Amazingly, the in-car video system survives, as well, with only surface scratches, despite having been integrated into the rear-view mirror of the vehicle and being struck forcefully by the windshield during the collision. The system is completely functional, and the video showing exactly what happened is ful... [more]
Security Systems Technology implements IP CCTV system at Brampton Manor art college
posted on 27/11/2009
Situated in East Ham, Brampton Manor has 1,600 students and has recently been awarded specialist status as an art college. Security Systems Technology (SST) have designed and implemented a major IP CCTV system for Brampton Manor School in east London. The school now has a 114-camera configuration that is integrated with pre-existing IT infrastructure and allows multi-user viewing by authorised personnel right across the campus. SST have installed a mix of cameras, predominantly Power over Ethernet IP-addressable models, and are now clarifying positions for further vandal-resistant dome units in an additional wing and wireless PTZ domes for the newly-landscaped grounds. A new sports hall has been built and the former building transformed into drama facilities, a development that reflects Brampton Manor’s position as a specialist performing arts school. The ability of SST’s consultants to integrate technologies has seen the introduction of IP internal dome cameras from Axis combined wi... [more]
Danny Dyer stolen Porsche recovered with Tracker stolen vehicle recovery system
posted on 26/11/2009
Most stolen cars are taken using the owner's keys. Actor Danny Dyer recently woke up to discover that his car keys had been stolen from his house in Loughton, Essex and his Porsche Cayenne was gone. Danny Dyer is usually the one on the wrong side of the law in his big screen roles, but recently he was the victim of a real life crime when thieves stole his car keys and drove away in his Porsche. Luckily, the vehicle was fitted with Tracker’s stolen vehicle recovery device, which was activated and the Porsche was found by police in Barking an hour and a-half later. “Danny Dyer is well known for playing clever criminals and even he has been caught out by these crafty thieves who obviously only had their eye on one thing,” explains Stuart Chapman, Tracker’s Police Relationships Manager. “Mr Dyer is lucky that his car was fitted with our state-of-the-art tracking security technology. In addition, we are the only stolen vehicle recovery provider working with all 52 police forces in the UK,... [more]
NUUO network video management system and IQinVision megapixel cameras monitor Bulgarian Toyota dealer
posted on 25/11/2009
The largest Toyota dealer on the entire Balkan peninsula has deployed a NUUO network video management system and megapixel cameras from IQinVision. The integrator in charge of system design and installation is Maxtel Ltd. Upwards to 50 IQeye cameras, ranging in resolution from VGA up to 3-megapixel, monitor the main showroom, a large parking lot of used cars, and the service areas—a complex of 11,000 square meters in all. The NUUO management system provides high-quality video, with recording during business hours and recording on motion after hours. In addition to motion detection, the NUUO system also features foreign object detection video analytics for more effectively monitoring critical surveillance zones. The Toyota dealer’s management uses surveillance video for overall security, to protect against theft, and to improve management practices. The dealership has a very large parking lot for used car storage and sales, and areas for servicing of vehicles. The video surveillance s... [more]
Computrace with geofencing capabilities alerts when laptop or mobile device goes beyond virtual perimeter
posted on 24/11/2009
Absolute® Software Corporation has announced the launch of geofencing capabilities with its commercial line of Computrace® products. The Absolute geofencing feature allows IT asset managers to incorporate the physical location of a device into their IT Asset Management strategy. Customers will be alerted after a laptop or mobile device goes beyond a virtual perimeter the customer has defined on a web-based map within the online Absolute Customer Center. To better protect the device and the data on it, the IT asset manager can then take the appropriate action, such as deleting data from the device and, if necessary, reporting it stolen. “Companies are looking to Absolute for better ways to secure their IT assets,” said John Livingston, chairman and CEO of Absolute. “By adding geofencing, our customers know sooner when mobile devices may be out of their control, so they can quickly protect the security of those devices.” “Because Absolute customers can draw a geofence on a map, th...
