VPS released SmartAlarm Gold, advanced alarm technology with video sensor
posted on 27/02/2012

Last week, VPS launched its most advanced alarm technology, SmartAlarm Gold, which can be combined with its new Verifeye Visual camera sensors for complete visual monitoring and protection. With technical foundations based on the success of its predecessor, SmartAlarm Gold takes alarming to the next level and when combined with the new Verifeye Visual camera sensor, on activation, takes full colour video clips which are immediately relayed to VPS’ 24/7 national monitoring station. SmartAlarm Gold is an entirely freestanding wireless unit with a long-life battery and on-board tamper detection, providing instant security and alerting on incidents including intruders, flooding and smoke. Sensors can be fitted both internally and externally to a property to ensure all round visual and movement coverage. The new advanced alarm system, which was designed in VPS’ own in-house Technical Innovation Centre, can be paired with VPS’ range of state of the art sensors, including pressure mats,... [more]

Introducing wireless 2MP IP Video Surveillance Camera from Toshiba
posted on 24/01/2012

Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video is bringing wireless ease to indoor video surveillance with its IK-WB16A-W two-megapixel IP camera equipped with 802.11n wireless connectivity. Megapixel resolution enables a single IK-WB16A-W to wirelessly capture overviews of very large indoor areas, such as a grocery, shopping mall or casino, as well as high-detail situations including close-ups on items being checked out by a cashier. The camera's wireless flexibility and versatile Pan, Tilt, and digital Zoom (PTZ) gives installers greater freedom to mount it wherever detailed video surveillance is required, including areas not wired with Ethernet cabling. Once installed, the camera's live video can be viewed and camera movements controlled by either a network linked PC, notebook, tablet or smart phone. The IK-WB16A-W supports simultaneous quad streaming of MPEG-4 and MJPEG video in a variety of resolutions to provide both higher quality and optimal bandwidth efficient compression formats. A maxi... Introducing WS4920 Wireless Repeater from DSC
posted on 17/01/2012

DSC extended its DSC family of wireless products by adding the WS4920 Wireless Repeater, an easy-to-install wireless device that significantly extends the range for DSC 1-way wireless devices from the control panel/receiver and compensates for interference sources by improving signal quality. Ideal for both new and existing installations, the WS4920 Wireless Repeater is backward compatible with existing security systems, including ALEXOR, PowerSeries and MAXSYS and easily extends the range of one-way wireless devices helping installers avoid costly modifications. Up to four wireless repeaters can be installed on one control panel, with each repeater handling up to 164 DSC 1-way wireless devices. Featuring placement testing capabilities, the WS4920 Wireless Repeater can be located away from noise and interference sources, ensuring strong communication between the repeater and control panel or receiver. It is compatible with a range of wireless control panels, receivers, door/window ... [more]

Suspicious signal sources more easily pinpointed thanks to Link Microtek's latest Interference and Direction Analyser
posted on 16/01/2012

Police, security personnel or prison staff now can rely on the new IDA-3106 interference and direction analyser (IDA) from Link Microtek to quickly identify and locate the source of any suspicious transmissions in or near to a particular building. Designed and manufactured by Narda Test Solutions, the new hand-held instrument is available with a choice of three active directional antennas covering the frequency ranges 20 to 250MHz, 200 to 500MHz and 400MHz to 6GHz. Using its integral GPS receiver and the 3D electronic compass built into the antenna handle, the IDA carries out a horizontal scan to establish the position of the signal source and then either displays the relative bearing in a polar diagram or pinpoints the location on a street map, just like a satnav system. The instrument is capable of analysing broadband signals and has a resolution bandwidth of up to 32MHz, which is believed to be unique for a hand-held unit. Its fast scan speed of 12GHz/s allows it to capture in... [more]
