USProtect Wins Security Contract at Fort Belvoir

USProtect has been awarded a contract to provide guard force protection services at the Secret (S) level at the United States Department of the Army Fort Belvoir, located in Virginia. Fort Belvoir is home to one Army major command headquarters and elements of 10 others; 19 different agencies and direct reporting units of the Department of Army; eight elements of the U.S. Army Reserve and the Army National Guard; and 26 DoD agencies. Also located at Fort Belvoir are a Marine Corps detachment, a U.S. Air Force activity, and an agency from the Department of the Treasury. Under the terms of the contract, which has a base period of one year with four additional option years, USProtect will provide security services at Fort Belvoir’s Center for Army Analysis (CAA). USProtect to Provide Security for USDA

USProtect has been awarded a contract to provide guard force protection to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the 2004 season for Animal & Plant Health Inspection Services (APHIS)—Animal Care Program. Under the Animal Care Program, USDA’s Veterinary Medical Officers conduct compliance inspections under the Horse Protection Act. USProtect provides executive protection in support of USDA inspectors at approximately 30 horse shows to be held throughout the country. USProtect began operations in April 2004 and will continue through October 2004. According to the USDA, the APHIS is responsible to protect and promote U.S. agricultural health, administering the Animal Welfare Act, and carrying out wildlife damage management activities. Consortium to Recognize Information Security Experience for Credentialed CISSPs

The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2 has announced the launch of a “grandfathering” process for credentialed CISSPs (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) who wish to apply for advanced ISSAP (Information Systems Security Architecture Professional) and ISSMP (Information Systems Security Management Professional) certifications. “As the industry matures, (ISC)2 continues to develop information security credentials that validate in-depth, specialised knowledge and expertise in selected areas of the consortium’s CBK, ensuring that information security professionals are well-trained and dedicated in every phase of their careers and in every specialisation they choose, and to ensure that the global requirements for information security professionals are met,” said Dow A.
