Combating money laundering, terrorist financing and embargo prevention
posted on 15/06/2005

World-Check, the British provider of a know-your-customer (KYC) intelligence service for finance institutes, and Cellent AG from Stuttgart, the provider and producer of the SMARAGD product family for combating fraud in finance institutes, have arranged to enter a partnership agreement to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, and to monitor embargoes. New mobile phone service can help to protect against bullying
posted on 13/06/2005

Following the recent research by Children's Charity NCH about the prevalence in schools of 'electronic' bullying, mainly through text messages and videos recorded on mobile phones, MobileSOS has suggested that its personal security services can help in the fight against bullying. MobileSOS provides a personal security service that can be accessed via any mobile phone, in order to get an urgent message to an individual's trusted network of family, friends, and other contacts. By using a pre-selected MobileSOS speed-dial number, the user's pre-recorded message and location is sent out via voice, text and email, so that nominated contacts can be made aware of the emergency situation. An optional timer function will even allow users to send a silent alert to nominated contacts if the alarm is not cancelled before the timer runs out. The MobileSOS service could be used by a child or teenager who felt threatened or bullied, perhaps on their way to or from school, to alert parent... [more]

The Memex intelligence system was originally deployed successfully within NJSP Intelligence Services Section - Organised Crime and Street Gangs Units in early 2001.
