British Airways installs SALTO electronic access control system

SALTO Systems has been chosen by British Airways to install its smart proximity electronic access control system, supplementing BA’s primary security arrangements, in the airline’s new state-of-the-art passenger facility at Terminal 5 Heathrow. A mixture of over 200 SALTO XS4 Comfort, Security and Glass Door lock sets together with intelligent wall readers mounted on stainless steel pedestals have been installed, controlling access to a mix of BA staff doors, lounges and the airline’s 1st class lounges in the new terminal. New off-line access control system for smaller sites

Abloy UK has launched Smartair electronic locks, an off-line access control system suited to smaller sites, initially to a hand-picked selection of the country’s top installers. Abloy UK commercial director Tabitha Morton explains the thinking behind this novel launch strategy: “Installers are an extremely important element within the commercial security market, and it was very clear to us that they merited their own pre-launch activity for this important, mid-range addition to Abloy UK’s access control portfolio. “Once we have fully briefed this initial group of around 15 installers, we hope to add a further 50 installers to our Smartair access control system network. Norbain signs up Cooper Security

Norbain has signed up Cooper Security, the name behind Scantronic and Menvier. The range includes Intruder Alarm systems, Access Control products and a full range of wireless security products. Abloy automatic door operators provide easy access to disabled visitors

George House in York is the office and meeting centre base for The Children’s Society’s PACT (Participation, Advocacy, Consultation, Training) Project and is frequently used by disabled children and young people. As part of a recent refurbishment project, automatic door operators were fitted to the main external door and to the offices, meeting room and kitchen doors, in order to give disabled visitors easy entry into and passage through the building. Julie Crosby, Administration Manager for The Children’s Society in York, explains: “PACT's aim is to ensure that disabled children and young people have their wishes and feelings taken into consideration in decision-making processes. St. John’s College High School deployse Brivo OnSite SE access control system throughout campus

St. John’s (SJC), located in Washington, DC, is an independent, Catholic, coeducational college preparatory school with 1,100 students and 150 faculty and staff. SJC formerly secured their buildings with a standard lock and key system. The SJC Administration sought improved access technology to provide school administrators with maximum flexibility; utilizing existing infrastructure and giving them a “tiered” management system to fit the overall needs of the school and each specific administrator. Brivo Systems, LLC, has announced that St. John’s College High School has deployed the Brivo OnSite SE access control system in key locations throughout their 27-acre campus. eVigilant of Arlington, VA, specified and installed the Brivo system. eVigilant introduced Tony Colvin, Director of Facilities, and Mel Colvin, Director of Technology, to Brivo’s OnSite SE.
