US IT Managers are More Confident than European Counterparts in Their Ability to Mitigate Malicious Web Threat Exposure

A survey commissioned by Blue Coat Systems of more than 600 network managers in Europe and the US revealed that US respondents tend to be more confident in their ability to protect against malicious Web threats to their networks than their European counterparts. 24% of US respondents claimed to have experienced “no negative impact on their network” in spite of the fact that malicious Web threats have increased by a factor of five between 2007 and 2008. On the other end of the spectrum, only 18% of the US respondents claimed that malicious attacks had made a significant or very significant impact on their network. European respondents, on the other hand, were less optimistic: In the UK, only 14% of respondents claimed their network had been unaffected by the impact of escalating Web threats and 34% admitted that malicious threats had made a significant or very significant impact. Becrypt Trusted Client provides secure remote access to Foreign and Commonwealth Office

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) employs 16,000 staff worldwide, with 261 embassies and deals with 2.9 million consular enquiries a year. The FCO has deployed Becrypt’s Trusted Client to enable secure access to its office network to over ninety employees at two of its overseas Posts in New York. Trusted Client allows remote workers to access their network from an unmanaged PC or laptop over the Internet by simply inserting the Trusted Client USB device and booting up the machine. Following the success of the FCO Trusted Client solution, the FCO has also deployed the solution at its offices in Brussels. SCDT switches its antivirus solution to VIPRE Enterprise

Surrey Community Development Trust (SCDT) is a charitable organisation that provides support and housing facilities to vulnerable individuals, decided to change its existing antivirus product as it was affecting its employees ability to work. Sunbelt Software has announced that SCDT has switched its antivirus solution to VIPRE Enterprise because of its higher levels of performance and minimal use of systems resources. With VIPRE Enterprise, SCDT benefits from comprehensive anti-malware security while protecting the productivity of over 90 staff across 16 sites in Surrey and Berkshire. Network Defence network-scanning solution will help NHS Trusts improve network security and prevent data loss

Network Defence has announced the launch of the UK's first N3 network vulnerability scanning service for NHS Trusts. The service will ensure that NHS Trusts fully comply with Information Governance standards and regularly assess systems and networks for malicious threats and potential data loss. This brand new service is the first of its kind in the UK and is set to kick off a new trend in N3 network security for NHS organisations looking to further protect their network.
