Melbourne City Council upgrades Safecity Camera Program with DVTel Latitude Network Video Management System
posted on 05/10/2007

The Melbourne City Council has deployed the DVTel Latitude Network Video Management System (NVMS) to upgrade its already successful Safecity Camera Program. SNP installed and commissioned the Safecity DVTel system. When first installed in 1997, the Safecity Camera Program’s CCTV system was cutting edge. A key element was a fiber cable plant installed in a star configuration that took advantage of the Council’s infrastructure to future-proof existing camera locations, arguably for decades to come. The upgrade to a new digital solution has proven the wisdom of the Council’s investment. Now, with that original fiber optic signal path mated to the new DVTel NVMS head end, Melbourne City Council’s solution is positioned to take advantage of its legacy PTZ cameras with no need to choke performance to meet bandwidth restrictions imposed at the network switch. In performance terms, the DVTel-driven solution delivers 4 CIF at 25 frames per second (PAL) on all inputs. That means simu... [more]

Digital CCTV monitor Rushden and Diamonds Football Club
posted on 04/10/2007

Rushden and Diamonds Football Club were formed at the end of the 1991/92 season following a merger between Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds. Millions were spent bringing the ground, Nene Park, up to and beyond the required standards. Nene Park has hosted a number of professional engagements including the Dr Martens European Snooker League and regular Sportsman Dinners. As part of their own security requirements and that of the F.A., Rushden and Diamonds have to provide quality CCTV coverage at Nene Park. Although a system was installed in 1992, it has since become antiquated and unable to meet the current CCTV standards. A new system was required which would not only monitor activities within the ground but also view events over the entire Nene Park complex. This would include car parks, training pitches, function rooms, bars, restaurants and hospitality boxes. Rushden and Diamonds Football Club approached LILIN to meet their requirements. A digital solution was installed ... [more]

New VideoJet X family of video encoders from Bosch
posted on 01/10/2007

Bosch's new VideoJet X family of video encoders combines high quality video, intelligence and ruggedness to extend CCTV over IP coverage into the most challenging environments. The VideoJet X10 (single-channel), X20 (2-channel) and X40 (4-channel) video encoders operate in temperatures from -30 to +60 degrees Celsius and relative humidities up to 95 percent. The units are also highly resistant to vibration, making them well suited for use in heavy industry, traffic and city-center (urban) monitoring as well as for mobile applications. A broad operating voltage range from 10 to 30 V DC means they are also suitable for surveillance of remote areas using battery or solar power. A choice of network connectivity is provided by three network ports: two standard 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports plus a 1 Gbps small form factor pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver slot. This slot enables the encoders to connect directly to a fiber-optic interface module to provide easy connection to remote loc... [more]

Hybrid CCTV system from Bosch monitors CBS Studios
posted on 01/10/2007

Based in Studio City in California’s San Fernando Valley, CBS Studio Center is one of the foremost film and TV news and entertainment production facilities in the US. The facility comprises 18 sound stages and outdoor sets covering a total area of more than 16,000 square meters. The area is monitored by a hybrid (analog/digital) CCTV system provided by Bosch Security Systems. It comprises more than 150 cameras of the AutoDome and Dinion types with associated encoding, decoding and video management systems. High-resolution video is streamed to Bosch’s VideoJet 8008 IP multi-channel encoders, which convert analog camera signals into digital format and transmit them across CBS Studio Center’s network. PC workstations are used to control live viewing and playback of digital video. Bosch VIP XD IP decoders transmit video to a monitor wall in the facility’s command center comprising 12 Bosch analog monitors. Video is recorded with a centralized network video recorder (NVR), while the Vide... [more]
