posted on 12/12/2006
Dr Ken Sutherland, corporate director for surveillance solutions at Telindus Surveillance Solutions (TSS) has predicted that in 2007 there will be two key areas of rapid growth in the surveillance technology market: transportation and city centres. However, according to Dr Ken Sutherland, the increase in the use of surveillance worldwide, which was prompted by 9/11 in New York and 7/7 in London, will continue in 2007. “Next year, we will see the amount of surveillance deployed on public transport escalate, not only for anti-terrorism purposes, but for the ... Video Domain Technologies has announced that NETiP, a new series of digital audio and video alarm panels, has achieved full integration with Sentinel Plus, the alarm monitoring software solution. NETiP is the end result of a $3 million development programme and offers a cost effective solution to transmitting high quality video and audio from remote CCTV cameras back to monitoring control centres. NETiP digitises analogue video and audio signals in real-time and transmits them over standard broadband connections or LAN/WAN networks without requiring a PC at the monitored premises. There are two models available offering four or eight channels of video streams and full duplex audio. High quality video images are compressed, encoded and stored on flash memory for immediate, easy access to recorded events and event logs. NETiP also features internal high-speed high-quality pre and post-alarm image capture and can digitally store up to 100 still images. According to Michael Askew... [more]
Axis 243SA Video Server Supports IPv6 for full-motion video
posted on 08/12/2006
Axis Communications has introduced the AXIS 243SA Video Server, the first one-channel video server that supports Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). IPv6 is the evolutionary internet upgrade that will expand IP addresses from 32 bits to 128 bits, effectively increasing the amount of IP addresses available from 232 to 2128. The AXIS 243SA provides de-interlaced video at full frame rates in both MPEG-4 and MJPEG compressions. It is ideal for installations that require full-motion video, such as casinos, airports, traffic surveillance and prisons. The video server has integrated two-way audio functionality, which enables users to hear intruders and communicate orders. It supports dome cameras and pan/tilt/zoom cameras through a built-in serial port. The AXIS 243SA also features powerful event-management tools, including video motion detection, pre/post-alarm buffering, and triggered event functionality with alarm notification.
