RandomStorm appointment signals European and worldwide expansion

RandomStorm have announced the appointment of IT Channel veteran Mark Shepherdson to spearhead the company’s European and worldwide expansion drive. Mark comes with a highly successful track record in the security reseller sector including most recently heading up the UK Channel development strategy for firewall and content filtering specialist, SmoothWall. Prior to that Mark was the first UK employee for Trend Micro and also held key roles at Computer 2000 and Metrologie.

RandomStorm has developed a range of commercial and open source security and compliance management tools, which also provide a white label security services platform for a number of managed security service providers, consultants and technology partners. Having rapidly grown the business over the past three years RandomStorm is now focusing on consolidating its UK Channel and quickly expanding operations into mainland Europe.

In the short time since his appointment Mark has already made significant progress resulting in the recruitment of eleven new UK and European partners. These include Boll, a Swiss based distributor, resellers Your Channel in Spain and Critical in Lithuania. In the UK new partners include Ascentor, Innovate, ITPS, Networks by Wireless, Miller Solutions, Calibre Networks, Pinacl Solutions and IT Health specialist BMS.

Commenting on his appointment Mark said “The IT security sector is one area of the economy that is proving to be resilient in the current economic climate, which is largely down to new data protection legislation and regulatory compliance pressures. We offer both security specialists and general IT resellers the potential to enter this growing market sector with minimal risk. Backed up with a team of highly qualified and experienced security consultants it is a compelling proposition that makes commercial sense for both us and them.”

RandomStorm’s products are in use across a wide range of business and public sector organisations, including many local authorities, monitoring the entire network infrastructure for imminent threats and critical vulnerabilities. This includes scanning the corporate wireless network for suspicious activity, helping to fulfil the key requirements of the PCI DSS and GCSx CoCo compliance standards.

As well as its range of monitoring tools, RandomStorm also provide partners with a range of world-class professional services through its CESG CHECK accredited team of security specialists, including ethical hacking, penetration tests and security health checks to offer to their clients on a sub-contract basis.

The whole package is rounded off with an integrated Partner support programme including access to technical and pre-sales support either onsite or via a telephone help-desk as well business development assistance in the form of sales training, co-op marketing and direct involvement with lead generation activities.
