The University of Westminster has selected Bradford Networks' Adaptive Network Security™ (ANS) platform to secure wireless access throughout its campus. Khipu Networks completed this project, its 250th Bradford implementation in the UK.

The University of Westminster selected Khipu for its secure wireless project as Khipu was the only company to demonstrate that the Bradford solution could meet its requirements. “We looked at many options to suit our environment and when we completed the pilot of Bradford’s Campus Manager, it was the only solution that enabled us to achieve our goals to provide an open but very secure wireless network for staff and students,” noted Lee Rose, Associate Director, University of Westminster.

Bradford Networks’ Network Sentry is the only network security solution that can dynamically adapt to changing security needs by automatically responding and securely provisioning network resources based on pre-established policies. ANS represents the evolution of traditional Network Access Control (NAC) solutions. Bradford’s ANS platform integrates and correlates network resources, user information and device information to make networks both more secure and more accessible. Its Network Sentry solutions are widely used throughout North America and Europe in the education, healthcare and enterprise sectors.

Bradford and Khipu initially partnered in the UK in 2005, introducing the technology into Europe. The first implementation was for Durham University to provide an automated and secure management solution for its 6000-student halls of residence network.

Other clients include: University of Nottingham, University of Liverpool, Trinity College Dublin, Kingston University, University of Greenwich, Homerton College, Christ’s College (University Of Cambridge), Warwickshire County Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, Oxford University Computing Services (OUCS), Pembroke College and Lady Margaret Hall (University of Oxford), Elmhurst School for Dance and Whitmore High School.

“Having worked with Bradford Networks for the past five years, their solution is a proven ‘tried and tested’ technology for diverse and unpredictable environments, ideally suited for the Education sector,” said Matt Ashman, Director of Khipu Networks. “Bradford’s Campus Manager offering, a solution set built upon the Network Sentry platform developed specifically for educational institutions, is one of Khipu’s key offerings in all of the UK and Ireland. We have built up an extensive customer base who use the solution to address a number of requirements, from managing student halls of residence networks to providing an open but secure access method across their entire networks for a wide range of users such as students staff, guests and contractors”.

Gary Mead, Bradford Networks’ Managing Director for EMEA, notes that Khipu is more than just a reseller for Bradford. “Khipu essentially acts as our UK and Ireland division,” said Mead. “Their team is like an extension of ours – it’s been our most productive and successful partnership in the UK. We’re thrilled to have reached this milestone of the 250th implementation, and look forward to continuing our work with Khipu for many years to come.”
