APT Security Systems helps design a new street scheme for the Arndale Centre in Luton
(25/08/2010)
Luton is currently undergoing a major regeneration programme: along with improvements to the station area, enhanced links from residential communities into the retail districts, improvements to the aesthetics of public areas and walkways, Luton will also see changes to its central retail district, at the heart of which is the Arndale Centre.
APT Security Systems has helped design a new street scheme for the Arndale Centre, which forms part of the wider redevelopment work to enhance the vitality and retail viability of Luton’s town centre. APT will be installing some 50 bollards, 10 cycle loops, four rising bollards, along with two large planters. All of its products are crash-rated to withstand impact and so will protect the area against the threat of vehicular attack.
APT took a major lead in designing the street scheme around the Arndale Centre, as Chris Rowlands, APT Security System’s Managing Director explains: “The developments are intended to improve the environmental quality of the Arndale Centre’s surrounding area,” he says. “The scheme will help maintain pedestrian walkways, allowing all users to move around easily and conveniently, and make it a more attractive location for residents, pedestrians and cyclists.”
“The street scheme” adds Chris, “has been designed to offer maximum accessibility whilst improving the aesthetics of the area - all without compromising safety of shoppers.”
