SoloProtect lone worker protection service deployed by UNITE
(08/01/2010)
UNITE, the UK’s leading developer and manager of student accommodation, is introducing the SoloProtect lone worker protection service from Connexion2, to its operations workforce. SoloProtect is supplying UNITE with 154 Identicom lone worker devices in addition to providing security management and training services.
SoloProtect combines the lone worker protection device with a 24/7 manned monitoring service. The service is accredited to the highest UK standard, BS5979 Cat II, through a partnership with Reliance Security, an established market leader in the provision of electronic security solutions.
Alastair Weston, UNITE’s Group’s Health & Safety Compliance Advisor commented “UNITE takes the Health and Safety of its customers and employees very seriously and, therefore, we investigated lone worker devices for our front line employees. Our initial trial of Identicom proved successful with positive feedback from our employees, who stated the product was discreet and easy to use.”
Although technology can aid an employee’s personal safety and enable them to quickly obtain help when needed, it cannot prevent conflict situations arising. Recognising this, earlier this year Connexion2 enhanced its SoloProtect services by including a range of training and consultancy services designed to support and educate lone workers themselves, their managers or other employees in the wider organisation.
The package includes conflict management training as well as guidance and training for managers. Bespoke risk assessment toolkits, lone worker policy development, lone worker safety and communication strategy for large employers of lone workers.
