A CCTV system that included the Dibos DVR recorders and Vipex IP encoders and decoders protected visitors to the 2009 Formula One British Grand Prix against the threat of crime.

The Dibos recorders were specified by West Haddon-based Crimesecure Surveillance Services Ltd, to collate all CCTV images from 16 wireless remote cameras via a local area network (LAN) and monitored on a mobile monitoring centre as well as the local Police authority.

This is the second consecutive year the DVRs have been used at the prestigious three day event and Chris Healey, Manager Director of Crimesecure Surveillance Services Ltd explains why: "We have been using the Bosch Dibos and Vipex encoders for the last two years now and although we have had some teething problems when setting up, which you would expect from a site such as Silverstone, these have been resolved and we are extremely happy."

This year, a link was set up from the circuit to Northamptonshire Police so that officers could monitor the footage real time and access recordings, as Chris continues: "The versatility of the Dibos is second to none, the police are impressed with how simply they can access footage. We are always asked questions as to what equipment we use at these events and we always respond that the Bosch Dibos does everything we require."

At the end of the event, images are exported from Dibos on to USB drives and stored in case it is needed for evidence.

Crimesecure Surveillance Services Ltd has worked very closely with several police forces for many years, this partnership involves providing advice and support for local crime reduction initiatives, as well as providing reliable mobile CCTV coverage for crime operations and major events, which relies on Bosch technology.

DiBos is a network-oriented digital video surveillance and recording systems featuring advanced MPEG-4 digital encoding technology for the highest levels of image quality, information content, and data storage efficiency. DiBos gives authorised users fast, convenient access to view live or recorded images. For live images, DiBos allows up to 30 local cameras and up to 32 IP-networked cameras to be selected instantly, with multi-image or full-screen display. Date/time, location, zone and selected camera information are also displayed. A powerful search function enables recorded images to be found easily, and playback speed can be specifically controlled to pinpoint exact events. Searches can be made either locally or remotely, over a company network or via the internet.

The technology allows viewing of both live and recorded images and has extensive communication, networking and systems interfacing features. It is designed for a range of applications including banks, retail chains, railway stations and airports, public and corporate offices, city centres, industrial facilities, and various other internal and external locations.
