25 venues in Scunthorpe, Broughton, Brigg and Barton have been visited last week, with 37 door staff inspected. Only one individual was issued with a warning after being found wearing a photocopy of their licence.

The Friday night operation carried out by the Security Industry Authority, Humberside Police, North Lincolnshire Council and Scunthorpe Fire Service found the majority of door staff abiding by licensing regulations.

By law, all door supervsiors working in pubs, clubs and bars must hold and display a valid SIA licence.

Nigel Davies, an SIA Head of Investigation, said: “I am pleased with the results of this operation and would like to thank our partners for working with us. The public should expect to see SIA-licensed door supervisors when they are enjoying a night out.”

Steven Turner: Humberside Police said: “The operation was a success as only one door supervisor was issued with a warning. Two premises caused some concern in their attitude to the use of sufficient numbers of door staff. Enquiries are continuing with these premises by the Police and licensing authority. The Fire service had minor issues at one of the venues and to assure complete safety at that premises they will carry out a follow-up visit.

“We will continue to work with our partners at the SIA to ensure that only professional, trained and qualified door staff work at pubs and clubs in the area.”
