ISACA Conference focusses on cybercrime
(04/11/2009)
ISACA is hosting key global security and web fraud experts at a three-day conference in Amsterdam from 9-11 November 2009.
ISACA’s Information Security and Risk Management Conference (ISRMC) Europe will take place in the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky and will feature industry luminaries including Eugene Schultz, CTO of Emagined Security, who will look at next-generational intrusion detection systems and solutions; Peter Wood, COO with First Base Technologies, who will detail his experiences in penetration testing; and Steve Orrin, director of Security Solutions with Intel, who will discuss virtualisation security issues.
Also on the speaker podium will be Arno Kapteyn, a managing consultant with Capgemini, who will examine security compliance issues, as well as John Pironti, Chief Information Risk Strategist at Archer Technologies and member of the ISACA Education Board, who will detail his experiences in information risk management.
Keynoting the event will be Detective Superintendent Charlie McMurdie of the Metropolitan Police Central e-Crime unit, the national UK e-crime project. In her keynote presentation, DSU McMurdie will focus on the growing threat posed by web fraud, and the critical resources that management on both sides of the public/private sector divide will need to defend against this escalating and often clandestine form of electronic theft.
“The increasing reliance that organisations place on e-mail, instant messaging and Internet technologies has boosted business efficiency, but these electronic systems and services have also engendered a near-perfect environment for fraudsters to prosper from their illegal and unethical business,” she said.
“The pervasive nature of the Internet is, unfortunately, the ideal breeding ground for cybercrime. I will explain the multi-faceted nature of the problem to conference attendees, as well as the strategies that can be used to counter this threat to business,” she added.
