Bosch Modular Alarm Platform 5000 can be integrated into other security and building management systems
(21/09/2009)
Bosch Security Systems has introduced the Modular Alarm Platform 5000, which allows security systems to be optimally tailored and configured to meet individual user needs.
The Modular Alarm Platform 5000 provides a customized security solution for office buildings, industrial areas, banks, museums or branch offices regardless of size or of the security level required of the application. The modular nature of the system allows easy modification of existing installations over time to suit changing needs. Moreover, in the event of a change in size or regulatory requirements, the necessary adaptations can be carried out while the initial investment remains intact.
The Modular Alarm Platform 5000 secures a site using high-performance and cost-efficient technology. The system can operate on its own or as an integrated part of an existing network connected via the premise’s standard IP interface.
The high flexibility of the system, moreover, allows a combination of internal and external network buses. The internal network bus operates CAN (Controller Area Network) protocol and connects the control panel with system components including LSN (Local SecurityNetwork) gateways, power supplies, touch screen user interfaces and communication modules with serial and parallel ports. The external IP network bus provides connection to systems located in other buildings.
Thanks to the open interfaces, it is possible to integrate the Modular Alarm Platform 5000 into other security and building management systems. When integrated with the Building Integration System (BIS) from Bosch, the system can be operated directly from the BIS workstation. Whether light control, guard tours, access control or intrusion systems, everything can be operated from a single location.
Set-up and operation is very easy thanks to the user interface of the Modular Alarm Platform 5000. The multilingual color touch screen display can be configured quickly to fulfill a wide range of operational needs and to tailor it to meet individual user requirements. People learn only what they need and operate the system according to their individual rights. The touch screen guides the user easily through the system using easy-to-understand icons. Access to the menu is secured by the use of a PIN. The touch screen user interfaces can be installed anywhere, meaning there is always one nearby.
In addition, the whole system or a subset of the secured areas can be easily armed or disarmed through the interface. The system can also be used in combination with the Bosch SmartKey – a proximity token in the form of a key ring that is used to activate or deactivate the system.
The Modular Alarm Platform 5000 also complies with the German VdS Class C safety standards. The colored terminal blocks are easy to install and the modules are quickly removable. In addition, LSN peripherals can be easily integrated into the system.
The control unit is available either as a wall-mount unit or for mounting in 19-inch rack-mount cabinets. With its robust housing design and encapsulated electronics, the system offers safe installation even in harsh environments, and can operate reliably even in dirty and dusty conditions.
