Webroot Stops College of Law Spam Problem Overnight
(25/08/2009)
The College of Law, with seven sites nationwide and headquartered in Guildford Surrey, is the UK’s leading supplier of legal education and training, with affiliations and endorsements from many of the top legal firms in the UK. The College offers numerous courses and publications, as well as free legal advice to members of the public.
Webroot has been chosen by the College of Law to provide its Webroot® E-Mail Security SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) solution.
According to Nick Galt, IT Director at the College of Law, The College faced difficulties because a majority of the computers are used by students who inevitably use online email systems. “We have 2.500 PCs,” Galt said. “And we are exposed to vast amounts of spam and potential email viruses. None of the previous solutions we tried were able to handle the sheer volume of spam we were receiving.”
Galt researched different options looking in particular for one that was efficient and flexible. “We opted to use Webroot E-Mail Security SaaS because it was a flexible and cost-effective solution that is proven to detect spam and block malware,” Galt said. “And it worked wonders. We saw a huge reduction in spam overnight.”
In just under four months, Webroot’s solution has already blocked 6.5 million emails, approximately 90% of the College’s incoming mail.
Galt appreciated how fast the solution was put into place and the amount of support they received. “We tested the solution in a live environment and Webroot reassured us that the new system would be quickly implemented, easily synchronized with the old system, and supported by a training team and customer support service,” Galt said. “We found all of those things to be true. Webroot, as a company, was most helpful throughout the entire process.”
The College of Law has joined a growing number of new customers that have switched from other service providers in preference of Webroot’s advanced email and web security service offerings.
“At Webroot, we are always pleased to hear that a customer is delighted by the level of service and support provided by our team,” said Mark Tickle, Managing Director EMEA, Webroot. “In today’s challenging economy, our SaaS solutions continue to provide customers with an easy and cost-effective way to host and manage a secure environment.”
