Identicom lone worker alarm for NHS lone workers dealing with the swine flu epidemic
(19/08/2009)
The increasing numbers of reported cases of the flu virus are beginning to put a severe strain on some public services. Concern that public sector employees will face growing anger from the public over depleted services during the flu epidemic has prompted a number of public sector organisations to contact Connexion2 for its lone worker solution.
Connexion2 has responded quickly to requests for the temporary deployment of its lone worker package to public sector workers involved in the delivery of services and vaccines to sufferers.
Connexion2 is helping address the issue by co-ordinating a quick rollout of the lone worker package for public sector workers who are requesting the service on a short-term basis.
Craig Swallow, Managing Director of Connexion2 said, "We are able to respond very quickly to requests for the temporary provision of our SoloProtect lone worker service, which is providing lone workers, who are under pressure dealing with the swine flu epidemic, with peace of mind knowing that they can quickly summon help if needed”.
In April the Department of Health announced that it had appointed Reliance to provide 30,000 NHS lone workers with the i750 Identicom® lone worker alarm. Reliance has been contracted by the NHS Business Services Authority to provide a total solution package to NHS staff, which includes supplying the Identicom® device, end user training, full 24/7 manned monitoring and service desk support.
The Department of Health’s decision to purchase Identicom follows full due diligence to ensure that the system chosen works for the user and the NHS. Unlike other lone worker devices, Identicom looks like a normal ID holder and is carried and operated in a completely discreet fashion. Importantly, Identicom also helps engender a culture of dynamic risk assessment and is able to capture credible evidence in the event of an incident.
