AD Group has launched its AD Mobile division which will have specific responsibility for all aspects of sales and technical support for the TransVu family of mobile CCTV Digital Video Recorders throughout the EMEA region.

Already deployed successfully on commercial and public sector vehicles - and even a Le Mans race car - the ruggedised TransVu range from AD Mobile consists of the high specification TransVu, the compact TransVu Express and the innovative TransVu Media which can display information and advertising messages.

The creation of AD Mobile coincides with a number of major product developments for the TransVu range. For the top-of-the-range TransVu, typically installed in coaches, buses, trains and large commercial vehicles, the key advances integrated into a new model, being launched at IFSEC 2009, are: the ability to work with IP cameras; output for a second monitor (this is particularly useful for bus operators); MultiMode Recording to support 100 to 400 pps - depending on the selected image resolution; internal and external GPS support, a three axis accelerometer and eight alarm inputs.

Enhancements for the compact TransVu Express, which is targeted primarily at smaller bus operators, public service vehicles and taxis, include the provision of a three axis accelerometer to determine the braking forces on a vehicle; running with SATA drives; multi-way monitor output; the ability to mirror flip images from any camera - for reversing - and GPS from an optional serial or Ethernet device. This further extends the potential of TransVu Express which already has many features commonly only found on larger units such as the ability to automatically download footage and system status on request via wireless communications technologies, and can be accessed remotely via cellular networks (i.e. GPRS HSDPA and 3G).

Also available through AD Mobile, the dual-purpose, NetVu Connected, TransVu Media feeds on-board display screens with stored advertising messages together with travel information, while simultaneously recording CCTV images from inside the cabin. Text capabilities can be used to indicate the next stop on the route, and selected screens may be triggered to play when the vehicle passes commercial stops or points of interest.

Said Jeff Berg at AD Mobile: "Bringing the TransVu mobile Digital Video Recorders under the AD Mobile umbrella is a logical move and offers clarity for customers who may previously have sourced TransVu from a number of AD Group companies. The launch of AD Mobile also means that operators and integrators will be able to deal directly with a team of mobile CCTV specialists whose technical, and customer, expertise has been built-up through the deployment of more than 14,000 TransVu units. TransVu is especially strong in the UK market which accounts for at least half of this installed base.

"For the future, at AD Mobile we envisage growth in the mobile CCTV sector coming not just from the need for straightforward CCTV surveillance on the move – which is critical in its own right - but, crucially, heightened demand for the associated data to help guide fleet management decisions.

“TransVu can gather data from the vehicle’s CANbus interface, providing a wide range of data including fuel economy and CO2 emissions. This data can then be processed to indicate and improve driver behaviour and fuel efficiency - a major issue for operators who need to keep a close eye on running costs.”
