(12/06/2009)
2020 Vision Systems has secured a four year preventative and corrective maintenance contract by Wakefield Council. 2020 Vision will be responsible for the Wakefield Urban CCTV Surveillance System which covers towns throughout the district including Castleford and Pontefract and the city of Wakefield.
The system, which is essential for safeguarding more than 320,000 people, comprises of 166 analogue CCTV cameras, which are all connected to a recently refurnished control room, complete with Synetics digital recording, graphical user interface and Eyevis video wall.
2020 Vision’s contract, which starts in June, will see the company providing routine preventative maintenance inspections as well as on call assistance and support for the entire system.
Peter Houlis, managing director of the CCTV specialists commented: “2020 Vision is certainly bucking the trend, having secured a number of major contracts in the past few months.
“2020 has a fantastic track record specialising in public sector work for councils, prisons, hospitals, universities and the like. We’re delighted to have been awarded this contract and we’re looking forward to commencing work very soon. The system is imperative to the safety of thousands of people; therefore it is essential that it is maintained to meet the council’s objectives, as a major crime management tool. ”
The Wakefield Urban CCTV Surveillance System plays a key role in policing the district making it a safer place in which to live, work and visit. The contract was awarded to 2020 Vision following a competitive tender process.
Darren Pollington, CCTV manager for Wakefield Council, said: “The company awarded the contract had to be able to demonstrate not only technical knowledge and experience but the capability to work safely on cameras located at height throughout busy town centres, without disrupting either traffic or pedestrians.
“2020 Vision has demonstrated its ability in a number of previous and ongoing contracts in this sector and we’re looking forward to working with the company to make our city and town centres safer for everyone using them.”
