G4S Events, the specialist event security and stewarding division of G4S Security Services (UK), has won a three year contract to supply Jockey Club Racecourses (JCR) with security and event stewarding services across a number of its sites including Aintree, Haydock Park, Epsom Downs and Sandown Park.

The contract will see G4S Events supplying event stewarding, crowd management and hospitality services to two of the UK’s most high profile race meetings, The Grand National and The Derby Festival, as well as a number of other race meetings and events held by JCR. G4S will also provide year round security services to the Aintree, Epsom Downs and Sandown Park sites.

Mark Hamilton comments: “G4S’s longstanding relationship with Jockey Club Racecourses is something that we are very proud of. We have been supplying services to JCR for a number of years and to Epsom Downs Racecourse for over 20 years. This win further consolidates our position as one of the leading suppliers of security and event stewarding services to the equine market.”

In 2008, G4S won a SportBusiness Sports Event Management Award for its security and event stewarding services to The Derby Festival at Epsom Downs Racecourse. Working closely with Epsom Downs Racecourse and Surrey Police, G4S delivered a solution that effectively reduced the number of police officers required to attend the festival, which in turn significantly reduced the cost of securing the event for the customer. As the first company permitted to restrain and detain members of the public on land which has unrestricted public access, the proven credentials of G4S have resulted in a major landmark in the field of event security.

G4S Events also supplies services to Ascot, Cheltenham Racecourse, Newbury Racecourse, Ayr Racecourse and The Burghley Horse Trials.
