Kaspersky Lab protects mobile employees working outside the company network from Cybercrime threats
(14/04/2009)
Mobile employees who spend more time onsite with the customer than in the office are a challenge for any company: Their mobile devices need to be protected from Cybercrime threats outside the company network with the same effectiveness as if they were sitting at their desk in the office.
Kaspersky Lab has announced the release of Kaspersky Hosted Web Security Services/Anywhere+ designed to protect mobile employees working outside the company network from Cybercrime threats in real-time. The solution enables SMBs and their IT administrators to easily enforce security policies on mobile devices while allowing transparent time and cost management.
“Market researchers forecast a strong growth in mobile employees over the next two years as well as an increase in employees placed onsite with the customer rather than working from their company’s office”, explains Günter Fuhrmann, Director Hosted Security, Kaspersky Lab. “By 2009 mobile workers in the U.S. are expected to account for more than 70% of the country's total workforce.1 Kaspersky Hosted Web Security Services enable companies to protect mobile employees from Cybercrime threats and allow transparent cost management.”
Kaspersky Hosted Web Security Services is a reliable solution to protect laptops of mobile employees, combining the highest protection level with manageable, transparent and predictable costs. All website requests by employees connecting to the Internet from outside the company network are first redirected to the systems in the Kaspersky Lab data centre where they are checked for crimeware. Malicious code and spyware are filtered before they even enter the company network. In addition, access to undesirable websites can be prohibited.
Kaspersky Hosted Web Security Services ensure that the business keeps running – crimeware is no longer an issue the MD of a company has to think about, since the full traffic is checked by experts. The company will have a highly professional solution and at the same time will not need to invest money in hardware and additional training.
The solution enables the administrator to save time while he remains in full control of the security solution’s configuration with the help of a web interface. Security policies can be applied to hosted services without wasting time with the maintenance of local systems. Administrators can also set specific rules for different user groups, determining what kind of websites can be accessed. There are around 50 categories of websites to select from with regard to accessibility.
“Since companies pay only for the requested services, our solution enables even SMBs to benefit from the protection level of large enterprises,” says Günter Fuhrmann. “In times of budgets being capped while at the same time IT systems are being requested to boost the productivity of employees, Kaspersky Lab Hosted Web Security Services/Anywhere+ is a cost effective solution.”
To ensure that mobile employees cannot get around the hosted web security service Kaspersky Lab offers Anywhere+, a small network driver that redirects all web traffic via the Kaspersky data centre. There the data stream is checked for crimeware and filtered if necessary. Any network connection will run via Anywhere+, no matter whether UMTS, WLAN or network cables are used. Even if users start an alternative web browser via a USB stick, the web connection will still be bound to Anywhere+. Mobile users cannot by-pass the security service as it often happens with VPN connections.
