Lumidigm has announced that ZK Software is releasing the LA2000, a biometric access control reader with Lumidigm fingerprint technology, to the US access control market.

ZK brings the power of Lumidigm's fingerprint technology into a low-cost package via the LA2000 access control terminal. Targeted at both indoor and protected outdoor applications, the LA2000 embodies all the benefits the industry has come to expect from Lumidigm fingerprint sensors: full enrollment, high throughput, spoof protection and high security. Users from all demographics can be enrolled and verified on a Lumidigm fingerprint sensor, regardless of the condition of the skin, the user's age, or the installation environment.

"Our Lumidigm offering is the crown jewel of a new suite of ZK products that is targeted specifically for the growing US security and access control market," said Jaimin Shah, President of ZK Software USA.

"There is no doubt that Lumidigm provides the most robust and accurate fingerprint sensor available in the market," said Shah. "Our LA2000 wraps those critical benefits into a high-quality, affordable reader that easily integrates into any access control system," Shah continued.

"ZK brought their incredible manufacturing efficiencies to bear on the LA2000, enabling a very attractive price point that makes Lumidigm's benefits available on almost any budget," said Bill Spence, Vice President of Transaction Systems at Lumidigm. "The ZK reader further improves the relatively low total cost of ownership that Lumidigm fingerprint technology inherently provides."

The initial price of the biometric reader is only one aspect driving the total cost of biometric system ownership. The unique ability of Lumidigm sensors to provide universal enrollment eliminates costly administrative problems and security risks that occur when users can't enroll on conventional fingerprint devices. Exceptional imaging capabilities support low false rejection rates at any security threshold. With Lumidigm technology, stringent security can be coupled with high throughput to provide much higher user satisfaction and minimal need for management intervention.

"High-quality images are captured by the Lumidigm sensor even when common operating conditions interfere with the fingerprint-sensor interface," said Shah. "As a result, the LA2000 biometric reader greatly reduces management hassles as well as end-user frustration."
