CBES awarded security installation package for Pembury Hospital
(24/03/2009)
Pembury Hospital is a PFI build in conjunction with Laing O’Rourke and CBES will be working for Crown House Technologies, Laing’s own M&E division. The hospital is a new concept NHS project with over 550 individual bedrooms spread over 7 floors, with project completion not projected until late 2011.
CBES Security division have been awarded the Security Installation package for a brand new hospital development on the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells in Kent. The team will be undertaking a 130 camera CCTV installation coupled with a comprehensive Access Control and Video Entry package. Multiple stand alone intruder alarm systems linked to a common signalling platform will monitor wards and departments locally and all this will be monitored from a Security room in which CBES will be supplying all of the bespoke furniture and specialist seating equipment. In addition to the more traditional disciplines CBES have also won the RFID Baby Tagging system and the site wide panic button and fob system.
Initial submissions and design briefs were submitted back in February of 2008. Despite the references the route to winning the project has been a tough one. CBES fought off competitive packages from 3 major National Security companies, all fighting hard for prestigious jobs in the current economic climate.
Dave Lister, Security Division Business Development Manager responsible for winning the project comments “There are no gifts out there right now; a huge amount of work and attention to detail has gone into winning this project. There have been 10 months of relationship building and countless design revisions prior to final tender submission, cumulating in a high end technical spec that almost became secondary to the confidence built up in our ability over that time. When a project is as high profile as this, customers want to be confident that whoever they appoint will deliver. That’s where our pedigree and partners shone through!”
80% of the contract will be installed in the first 15 months with outlying Car Park areas carrying on until 2011 as redevelopment works continue.
