Alpha High Theft Solutions prevent theft of Mulberry handbags and purses
(11/03/2009)
Luxury British brand Mulberry has called on leading security solutions provider Alpha High Theft Solutions (a division of Checkpoint Systems) to help protect its range of handbags and purses from theft. Alpha 3 Alarm CableLok high-theft security devices have been installed on goods in all House of Fraser and Selfridges concessions across the UK, meaning the iconic fashion accessories can be displayed in an open retail environment safely and securely.
Mulberry chose the CableLok hard tags to deliver enhanced protection thanks to their ‘3 Alarm Technology’. This provides a highly effective means of security without hindering the customer shopping experience or obscuring any part of the product.
A first alarm provides early detection, alerting store personnel if the merchandise is tampered with inside the shop, whilst a second alarm activates the EAS antennae at the store exit. Finally, a third detection system featuring an extended activation range will self-alarm immediately outside the store if goods are removed from the premises.
John Loughrey, National Security Manager at Mulberry, commented: “Shoplifting is a significant issue and we take it very seriously. The anti-theft Alpha technology is ideal for our specific security needs and allows us to tackle shrink and therefore protect our profits. The unique ‘3 Alarm Technology’ really stood out when we were scouring the market for security solutions as it was a real first for the industry and offered a truly robust solution.
John continued: “Since installation, the results speak for themselves and I can even recall one incident where we apprehended a shoplifter, who dropped the merchandise when the final alarm was triggered outside the store. We were able to retrieve the item as a direct result of the alarm going off which, had it been stolen, would have been a significant loss.”
Patricia Lacey, Alpha UK Business Development Manager, added: “It’s great that companies such as Mulberry realise the importance of tackling theft to help improve the customer shopping experience as well as protecting their profits. And it’s even better to hear the real results our solutions deliver. The Alpha 3 Alarm CableLoks represent a real step forward in loss prevention technology, offering superior protection from theft. The fact they enable a welcoming open display environment means that sales don’t suffer. This is a win-win situation for retailers and customers alike.”
