BeCrypt achieves CESG CAPS approval for BeCrypt Media Client
(11/06/2009)
BeCrypt is now able to provide scalable, assured data security solutions to cover data at rest and in transit on removable media up to Impact Level 3
BeCrypt has achieved CESG Assisted Products Service (CAPS) certification for its CD/USB media/file encryption solution, BeCrypt Media Client™. BeCrypt Media Client has been developed for Government departments, public sector and Corporates that need to adhere to Data Handling requirements to share data securely with third parties while maintaining the integrity of the data.
It operates with a ‘zero footprint’ on the encrypted media itself so that authorised recipients can access encrypted data without having the BeCrypt software installed, they simply need to successfully complete the authentication process. BeCrypt Media Client is the first ‘zero footprint’ encryption solution for CD/USB media to gain CAPS approval.
The CAPS certification has further strengthened the BeCrypt suite of data protection solutions for the Public Sector. When Media Client is combined with BeCrypt DISK Protect Baseline, which is also a CAPS approved solution, BeCrypt is able to offer a flexible package that provides protection for data at rest on laptops and desktops and for data in transit on CDs, DVDs, and USB devices, suitable for Impact Levels 1 to 3. This enables Government departments to protect data as it flows in and out of the organisational boundary.
Dr Bernard Parsons, CEO for BeCrypt commented, “CAPS approval of Media Client enables us to further strengthen our strategy of providing the most comprehensive suite of assured data security solutions for the public sector. Organisations can now tackle the risks posed by removable media with a CAPS approved solution and meet today’s challenges of enabling their workforce to access and share information effectively and securely with known third parties.”
