Thermal imaging enhances the ability to gather intelligence so that users can make informed judgement rather than simply be reactive and force them to make just-in-time decisions. It allows a potential situation to be intercepted before it becomes an incident, providing round-the-clock intruder detection.

The technology creates a virtual fence/perimeter line without the need for supplementary lighting which can be expensive to install and maintain; in some locations it is simply too intrusive. It also eliminates the need to install additional cameras to cover long distances.

By adding an infrared camera to an established CCTV infrastructure provides both early detection and full visibility irrespective of the prevailing light levels or weather conditions. Compatibility with third-party video analytical tools provides reliable unattended threat detection and alarm capability.

FLIR Systems will introduce two new cameras at IIPSEC 2007. One is the first true day light thermal imaging camera for the commercial market and costs just 3,950 Euros. The second is the first dual view thermal imaging camera to be based on the principles of human vision providing superior situational awareness.
