Axiom Housing Association purchases SoloProtect to ensuresafety of its outreach workers

Axiom Housing Association is a provider of a broad range of quality, affordable rented housing throughout Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire, the Association caters for single people, families and the elderly as well as those who may have additional housing or support needs.

Established in 1967 with the primary objective to ‘build better communities’, Axiom Housing Association, under its Support Housing programme, provides housing for the homeless, refugees, people with mental health problems, young people and people with learning difficulties. As its outreach workers work closely with tenants and from time to time face challenging situations, Axiom Housing Association decided to look for a device, which would enable workers to raise the alarm if threatened.

Chosen by Axiom Housing Association, Connexion2’s SoloProtect combines the five-core elements that are essential for a credible and complete lone worker solution. SoloProtect combines the lone worker protection device with a 24/7 manned monitoring service accredited to the highest UK standard, BS5979 Cat II, through a partnership with Reliance Security, an established market leader in the provision of electronic security solutions. SoloProtect provides end user training, which has been delivered to thousands of lone workers.

“The SoloProtect service has proved so successful that we are now planning to roll it out to other personnel”, concluded Linda Harris. “Our staff and the Association now have peace of mind knowing that help can be quickly and discreetly summoned”.

When an employee feels they are entering a hazardous situation, they press an amber alert button, providing important location information to SoloProtect’s monitoring centre. If the red alert is then pressed the centres’ support staff can discreetly listen in to what is happening and make an assessment as to the level of support required– involving the police if necessary and verify the user’s location through the amber alert and location positioning technology. In the event of a verbal confrontation, the Centre can also record the conversation for future action.
