BreconRidge delivers Global IT Governance with MetaCompliance
(07/01/2009)
Managing corporate governance in today's increasingly regulated global environment can be significantly simplified through automation. BreconRidge has announced the deployment of MetaCompliance, the IT Governance solution from Baronscourt.
Headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, and operating over multiple sites in North America and Asia, BreconRidge provides innovative solutions to the world's leading communications, industrial, medical, aerospace and defense organisations. Delivering on strong Corporate Governance is a key objective for the company, allowing BreconRidge to demonstrate best practice to both customers and industry regulators. With 1,700+ employees operating across multiple markets, time zones, cultures and subject to varying regulations, ensuring effective communication of corporate policies was a challenging proposition for BreconRidge.
MetaCompliance, from Baronscourt, offered a solution to this problem. Developed to automate and simplify the task of corporate governance while delivering high level results, the MetaCompliance project management team worked closely with BreconRidge to ensure the deployment of a solution that would meet their specific requirements. A key feature of the software allows companies to include all user types in compliance and governance programmes, which was a particular challenge for BreconRidge given the diversity of user types spanning from factory floor to laptop and VPN users.
Andy Millen, Enterprise Risk Manager at BreconRidge, explains why they chose MetaCompliance: “We are focused on quality assurance and compliance with industry standards. We view the purchase of this technology as a best practice approach to internal business communications that keeps our employees up to date on the latest policy changes, organizational announcements or even our customers’ evolving needs. With MetaCompliance we are able to demonstrate a complete audit trail of who has received and read critical internal communications.”
BreconRidge began automating policy communications in Autumn 2008, and have thus far launched revisions to several key policies including Internet Acceptable Use and Travel & Living; 2009 will see the company incorporating the HR, Training and Development and Environmental departments into the MetaCompliance programme.
Robbie O’Brien, CEO of Baronscourt supports this approach; ”It’s encouraging to see a global company like BreconRidge follow through on their ethics and governance commitments to their shareholders and the public by investing in state-of-the-art technology that ensures the highest levels of best pratice. They have shown themselves to be committed to accountability and participation in compliance initiaitives.”
Automating the communication component of corporate governance with MetaCompliance allows BreconRidge to deliver on several objectives:
• The inclusion of all users within the corporate governance program, including disconnected workers across multiple sites and regions;
• The ability to elicit and enforce 100% response from all users, and capture and evidence this response;
• Integrate sustainable corporate governance management across multiple regulations;
• The ability to test user understanding and knowledge across the organisation;
• Integration into the organisation’s Training and Development and HR systems and processes;
• Increased user awareness across the organisation, allowing for the achievement of best practice corporate governance and IT Security;
• Substantial reductions on the cost of communication across the entire organisation.
