Sony has announced the launch of the NSR-1000 series, their first fully integrated hybrid network surveillance servers that facilitate the use of IP, megapixel and analogue cameras within the same network. The NSR-1050H, NSR-1100 and the NSR-1200 look set to bridge the gap between IP and Analogue video surveillance, permitting a flexible network that can utilise a wide range of camera formats. For the first time these servers are open platform, allowing customers to use Sony technology alongside an existing alternative brand network.

In its NSR-1000 series, Sony Professional has introduced a security solution with the latest generation of hybrid network surveillance servers. The models NSR-1050H, NSR-1100 and NSR-1200 are for network video surveillance and recording with a wide range of camera formats.

The unique flexible platform integrates modern IP and megapixel cameras and even analogue cameras. The models, which are the successors to the NSR-100 series, are easy to use and provide an impressive improvement in performance.

All three Sony network surveillance servers enable the combined use of analogue and IP-based cameras. Users can continue to use their existing analogue cameras, with integrated IP technology. The NSR-1050H supports up to 20 cameras, and thanks to the integrated Analogue Encoder Board (NSBK-A16), can process video data from up to 16 analogue cameras. The mid-range NSR-1100 model can accept data from up to 32 cameras and store up to 1000 GB. The large NSR-1200 servers are available for 64 IP video data streams of up to 2000 GB. An interface for the Analogue Encoder upgrades the servers for connecting up to 16 analogue cameras. Because of their open architecture, the servers can also process data from cameras from other manufacturers.

In addition to 2 RGB interfaces, the network surveillance servers are equipped with 2 HDMI interfaces for high resolution images. Therefore, for example, vehicle number plates or faces can be clearly imaged and recorded in megapixel quality. Two of the four interfaces can be used simultaneously in any combination, depending on requirement. For better clarity and control, the video images can be displayed on two monitors in six windows.

When connected to JPEG and MPEG4-compatible cameras, the video surveillance cameras accept data in JPEG and MPEG4 format. Thanks to this option, the system can record images simultaneously for better control, and can provide high-resolution videos in real time.

The NSR-1000 series is equipped with installation wizards, which automatically recognise Sony IP cameras. This considerably reduces the time required for installation. The new NSR-1000 series will be available from the beginning of next year.
