High security with Fujitsu palm vein biometric sensor
(31/10/2008)
Fujitsu Europe Limited has announced its new PalmSecureTM Login Kit and Mouse Login Kit. These kits offer users high security through a palm vein biometric sensor and the convenience of master password control on desktop and mobile PCs.
The kit is designed for all users, from single log on to enterprises, with identity management needs and allows for the convenient and secure combination of all existing login and system application IDs and passwords into the one single sign-on biometric authentication. As the system is based on biometrics rather than passwords, it is virtually impossible to manipulate or falsify.
The Login Kit combines a Fujitsu PalmSecureTM sensor with Softex OmniPass Windows Log-in and Single Sign-On software. PalmSecureTM is a biometric authentication solution offering optimum levels of security. It works by detecting the structure of the veins in the palm of the human hand by emitting an infrared beam, which is absorbed by the blood, causing the vein pattern to be revealed. The generated image is digitised, encrypted and finally stored as a registered template. This is a highly secure device and one of the most accurate forms of biometric recognition available at the moment.
These kits eliminate the need for users to remember multiple passwords or pin numbers, increase productivity and convenience during login and heighten security through using an encrypted biometric system. Both kits can also be used for login management to virtually all of the applications on an organisation’s system or even to manage web login IDs. This allows only authorised users to access essential information and establishes a very tight system, which is important to today’s sophisticated work environments.
The kits are available as a sensor with USB plug-in, and sensor holder, or with the sensor uniquely integrated into an optical mouse. The mouse type is ideal for desktop use to save space or in the case of a mobile PC, not having to carry extra devices.
The new PalmSecureTM Login Kit and Mouse Login Kit are available immediately throughout the EMEA regions (Europe/Middle East/Africa).
