Xi-Sign 4000 strong authentication deployed by Banco Posta Online
(01/10/2008)
Poste Italiane (the Italian Post) has chosen XIRING's Xi-Sign 4000 as the strong authentication solution for its online banking service, BancoPostaOnline.
Following a European call for tender, Poste Italiane selected XIRING and its Italian partner Sheltering, to provide strong authentication solutions to secure the company’s e-banking customers using the BancoPostaOnline service and BancoPostaClick, the new online current account of Poste Italiane. The contract plans 730 800 Xi-Sign 4000 delivered with associated services.
The Poste Italiane Xi-Sign 4000 is a personal strong authentication card reader based on the Chip and PIN Postamat Maestro card, the debit card connected to BancoPosta accounts issued by Poste Italiane. By providing such a security solution for online banking users, banks and financial services providers are creating the trusted environment required to develop new value-added services.
Hervé Bayle, Director of the Banking Business Unit, XIRING, declares, “Poste Italiane is the latest in a long line of major financial institutions which have selected the MasterCard CAP standard and decided to deploy strong authentication solutions to secure online banking services, by leveraging the EMV bank card. As our first customer win in Italy, we see great potential in this market in the future. This new contract also confirms the quality and competitiveness of our offer.”
Georges Liberman, Chairman and CEO, XIRING, adds, “Poste Italiane’s decision to deploy strong authentication solutions based on the EMV bank card means that Italy is now joining other European countries which have already selected this technology, such as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Scandinavia and Benelux. The project reinforces, once again, the relevance of these bank card-based security solutions for e-banking and e-commerce which forms the core of XIRING’s strategy.”
