Kaspersky Hosted Security Services include Web and IM Security
(15/08/2008)
Gartner predicts that hosted security services are to soar in popularity. The recent report from Gartner, ‘Cloud-Based Computing Will Enable New Security Services and Endanger Old Ones’, estimates that security-as-a-service could more than triple in the next five years, and underlines the benefits, demand and mainstream acceptance of hosted security services.
Kaspersky® Hosted Security Services now include Web and IM Security. The added functionality even enables the enforcement of Internet usage policies for roaming employees.
Kaspersky® Hosted Security Services provide an innovative approach to combating malware and spam by filtering these out in the cloud, thereby preventing malicious content from ever reaching the network. Previously only available as a stand-alone Anti-Spam module, or as a combination of both Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus, the service has now been extended to include Web and IM Security.
Underpinned by customer-defined security policies, Kaspersky® Hosted Security Services are cost effective, with a lower total cost of ownership compared to conventional in-house systems, reducing IT security system costs by 30% or more and relieving the burden on internal IT staff while increasing system and staff productivity.
Since the launch of Kaspersky® Hosted Security Service in January 2008, Kaspersky Lab has seen a great rise in demand for its hosted security services and has now opened a dedicated Data Centre (The Bunker) in the UK to handle this demand.
Kaspersky® Hosted Web Security provides protection against IT threats, including potentially unwanted programs, which enter the corporate network via HTTP or FTP. Furthermore, the service helps enforce acceptable use policies by controlling access to websites for increased employee productivity by preventing non-business web surfing and exposure to inappropriate content. Anywhere + makes it possible to enforce Internet usage policies for roaming employees, without the performance issues and bandwidth congestion usually associated with backhauling web traffic over the corporate VPN.
Kaspersky® Hosted IM Security monitors IM clients within the company and provides policy-based protection against threats associated with their use. Such threats include IM worms and SPIM (instant messaging spam), as well as the unauthorised exchange of confidential information.
“Organisations of all sizes are understanding the benefits of hosted security services as the growth in the market continues to rise " says the Director of Service at Kaspersky Lab, Guenter Fuhrmann. “The Internet has become an indispensable part of today’s working world and with an ever-increasing level of threats that are spread through incoming Internet traffic and instant messaging, it is a natural progression for Kaspersky Lab to offer this functionality as part of its hosted services in the UK to address these areas.”
Sales Director for UK and Ireland at Kaspersky Lab UK, Simon Geach explains, “With the addition of Web and IM security, Kaspersky Lab will be able to offer an additional layer of protection to safeguard against unwanted programs entering their customer’s networks. With simple and rapid deployment, Kaspersky® Hosted Security Services ensure immediate reliable protection, without a lengthy integration process.”
