MiniD-100 miniature DVR uses a standard SD card to record both video and audio
(01/07/2008)
Vista has launched the MiniD, a miniature and robust DVR that can be used in covert, mobile and portable applications. As well as being used for covert and mobile surveillance, the unit has been integrated into an LCD monitor to provide a continuous audit trail of an operator’s viewing pattern. It can also be found in a high resolution colour dome operating on a Vista PowerDome RS485 protocol to enable distributed real-time recording, controlled from industry-standard equipment.
Over a hundred times smaller than the average CCTV DVR, the MiniD-100 uses a standard SD card to record both video and audio. The user can then play back the footage via the DVR or on any PC running Windows. A combination of highly efficient MPEG compression and miniature components reduces power consumption and space requirements. Low 12V DC power consumption means that the unit can even be powered by standard batteries, further maximising its flexibility.
The unit has just three connectors and doesn’t require any special tools or equipment to install. An IR remote control allows the unit to be configured and controlled from a distance with on-screen text provided on a connected monitor. Once the power has been provided, it will automatically start to record. Motion detection and alarm inputs optimise and extend recording capability.
"The MiniD-100 is just the first of an upcoming line of miniature DVR recorders that Vista will be releasing to the market over the coming months," says Mark Pritchard, divisional director of Vista.
