Avon Protection Systems unveils modular Respiratory Protective Equipment system
(13/05/2008)
Avon Protection Systems, part of Avon Rubber p.l.c., is unveiling its ST53 multi-role modular Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) system at Eurosatory in Paris, from 16 - 20 June 2008. This solution will be demonstrated for the first time at the exhibition, giving viewers the opportunity to see the benefits of this RPE system, which has the ability to switch between negative pressure and SCBA.
The ST53 has been designed to enable the operator to enter a hot-zone using SCBA (positive pressure) and switch to filter mode (negative pressure) allowing extended protection once the atmosphere has become less toxic. Transition is simple and efficient and does not compromise protection.
The system is available with a wide variety of accessories, which can be easily attached without the need for connecting devices, including:
* The optional Improved Powered Air Purifying Respirator (IPAPR) which provides filtered air for longer durations
* Clear and sunlight outserts
* Communication connections
* Voice projection units
* Vision correction assembly
* Mask carriers
As well as the ST53, visitors to the Avon Protection stand will also be able to see the EH20 Emergency Hood, which is specifically designed to protect users against CBRN agents. It provides a high level of respiratory, eye and face protection for up to 20 minutes to allow sufficient time to escape from a contaminated area. Use of the hood requires minimal training and it takes just 30 seconds to deploy. It is stored in a neat vacuum sealed pouch small enough to wear on a belt, and has a ten year shelf-life.
Both the ST53 multi-role RPE system and the EH20 have been developed to fulfil an increasing demand from first responders for CBRN protection equipment.
Jim Naylor, sales and marketing manager for Avon Protection Systems, explains: “The ST53 is an exciting new development within the defence marketplace, and one which will help first responders to protect themselves against increasingly complicated CBRN threats.”
Jim continues: “We have been developing respiratory solutions in partnership with the defence sectors for many years and have built up a tremendous expert knowledge of both products and the environments in which they will be used. Eurosatory is the ideal platform to demonstrate our strength and depth of expertise and equipment.”
