BeCrypt has been selected by UK Government's Ministry of Defence to provide its DISK Baseline solution with authentication tokens for twenty thousand MOD laptops. DISK Protect will be used to securely protect data which is marked up to Restricted, and is to be deployed throughout the non-DII (Defence Information Infrastructure) laptops that are used by the British Army, Royal Navy and RAF.
DII(F) is one of the largest information infrastructure programmes in Europe. It will provide a computing infrastructure and services that will enable sharing of information and collaborative working to a variety of groups and individuals including those that currently have limited or no connectivity. Ultimately it will provide around 300,000 user accounts on approximately 150,000 terminals across about 2,000 MoD sites worldwide.
Not only does the delivery of DII capability represent a major output in its own right, it also plays a significant part in the delivery of, and as a catalyst for, the Defence Change Programme. DII will be central to transforming the capability of the Armed Forces by providing Network Enabled Capability through a single network of information. It will extend into the operational arena, interface with battlespace systems and improve shared information between headquarters, battlefield support and the front line, allowing greater interoperability between the MoD and its allies.
The MOD selected BeCrypt for the company’s ability to deliver solutions quickly that support the security needs, and to enable easier integration with DII laptops and computers in the future. BeCrypt’s DISK Protect Baseline solution is CAPS approved (CESG Assisted Products Scheme) and designed to meet stringent security standards for both the government and commercial marketplace.
BeCrypt’s DISK Protect Baseline was selected by the MOD for its DII (C) and DII (F) laptops in 2006.
Richard Brooks, Director of Sales EMEA at BeCrypt commented; “BeCrypt’s encryption solutions support the need to enable mobile working, yet provide proven and verified protection of classified data outside of secured government buildings. They are straightforward and fast to deploy, essential when security is of the highest importance.”
