New USB 2.0 DVR Guardian converts any PC or laptop into a digital video recording surveillance system

Swann Security has announced USB 2.0 DVR Guardian™, a compact, portable system that turns any PC or laptop into an advanced surveillance system capable of monitoring home, office or retail space.
The Swann USB 2.0 DVR Guardian™ is easily installed by simply plugging it directly into the computer’s USB port. The DVR supports up to four channels, so the user can choose to display and record live video from one to four cameras. With an easy to use graphical interface, the USB 2.0 DVR Guardian™ can be programmed for recording at a specified time, set for motion detection or set up to auto e-mail a notification to the user’s e-mail account upon motion activation.
Furthermore, the entire security system can be viewed and controlled remotely via the internet. Swann’s latest “Plug & Play” security solution offers flexibility in terms of viewing options; users are able to view their security system through their PC or laptop and remotely from anywhere in the world via the internet or their mobile phone.
“Following the success of our PCI card based monitoring and recording solution (PC DVR4-Net Security Guardian), we wanted to create a similar solution with a simple external USB connection,” remarked Faz Colbhie, Swann Security’s UK Channel Manager.
“Since the USB Guardian records directly onto the computer’s hard drive, managing recorded data is a breeze. All files are organized with an index of date and time stamping so the user does not have to waste time tracking down the event they are looking for. This surveillance system is powerful enough to secure small to medium-sized businesses, but easy enough to use that any home owner can install it. Each of the cameras in Swann’s comprehensive range will work with the USB Guardian, which means that users are in complete control of how they tailor their system.”
