(24/03/2008)
BeCrypt has appointed Marc Hocking as Chief Architect to further strengthen the company’s technical and product development division. His broad experience of the security industry includes four years working for the UK Government Cabinet Office where he worked closely with US federal agencies and contractors in the US gaining a deep understanding of the issues associated with global cross-border security.
Whilst at the Cabinet Office Mr. Hocking was Deputy Director – Technology for the eGovernment Unit and latterly was Technical Architect/Security Architect for the Central Sponsor for Information Assurance and Delivery and Transformation Group.
Before working for the UK Government Mr. Hocking spent ten years in a variety of roles within global financial institutions working on systems that included authentication, authorisation, and privilege management infrastructure. Of particular note was his role as Technical Integration Architect for a PKI based identity management solution for a major bank based in Singapore, Hong Kong and India. The system was rolled out across eleven countries, and was acknowledged as the first major PKI development in the world.
On joining BeCrypt, Mr. Hocking commented, “I first came across BeCrypt while working at the Cabinet Office. It seemed to be an innovative company which is unusual in the IT security sector, and I was impressed with their commitment to providing quality products that met customers’ requirements along with excellent customer service. This is an exciting time in the data security industry as at long last organisations’ are waking up to the dangers of inadequate data security. I am looking forward to helping BeCrypt take a significant role in providing trusted solutions to both government and commercial sectors.”
David Holman, CEO of BeCrypt commented, “We are delighted to welcome Marc to BeCrypt. His deep and broad understanding of the data security market, and in particular, his experience of working with overseas governments on cross-border projects and his knowledge of PKI technology will be invaluable to BeCrypt. He will be helping us to form future product strategy as well as providing invaluable guidance for our customers with systems architecture and security consultancy projects.”
